I agree. Worse looking horses with worse bloodlines (much worse) have been given a chance at stud.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 10:29 pm Ignoring the ignominious name, he's not a bad-looking horse, and his pedigree may make him a useful regional stallion.
If you were a small breeder, gambling on that bloodline wouldn't be the worst thing you could do.

Its weird to me that they raised Mo The Beholder's stud fee. He stood at that same farm in 2022 for $1,500 and only got 5 mares. So yeah definitely makes sense to increase it by 1k. California also had 3 Uncle Mo's enter stud there in 2022, him, the unraced and equally terribly named Moquest(full to Nyquist) and G1/6xG2SW Mo Forza. As should be, Mo Forza got 4x as many mares at the other 2 combined. And really there isn't *that* much of a stud fee difference. Mo Forza is 9k, Moquest is 4.5k, and Mo The Beholder is 2.5k.
California seems to be the place to send unraced, unnamed stallions to stud and name them terrible names right before they go to stud. Curlin To Mischief, Moquest and Mo The Beholder all fit that.

Those sure are all terrible names. Mo Forza isn't much better. I didn't know they RAISED Mo the Beholder's stud fee. He got only 5 mares, why increase it? Maybe they've had more inquiries? I guess we'll see when the Report of Mares Bred comes out next year.Flanders wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 9:28 am Its weird to me that they raised Mo The Beholder's stud fee. Mr Harry Sweeney at Darley Japan has a good eye.
Will Take Charge has had five starters in JRA to date, four of whom are already winners.
I would think that he will stay in Japan for years,
