Shahryar has moved to co-favorites of the public this morning with Vela Azul and Danon Beluga at 4.7 (3.7 to 1)!

My sentimental favorite is Daring Tact.
The 2020 Triple Tiara winner lost her shine after a long layoff due to suspensory desmitis.
She is entered here only in two weeks after the QE2 to boost the Japan Cup field.
I would like to believe in a miracle, hoping she will come home safe.

Wow!!
Vela Azul(JPN) was much the best!!
He is the new hero. 8-)
And I'm very happy for Eishin Flash(JPN) who sired his first G1 winner here, too.
Prominent sire-of-sires Kingmambo(USA) may secure another lively branch in Japan!!!

Mind Your Biscuits 2yo colt Mirror of Mind(JPN) finished 2nd covering final 600m in the fastest time!
MYB babies have been doing well on either surface. 8-)

Mirror of Mind is owned by Teruya Yoshida’s Shadai Racehorse.
By the way, his dam Emmy's Smile(JPN) is the granddam of Crown Pride(JPN), winner of the UAE Derby and contender of the Kentucky Derby this year.
Crown Pride is entered for the G1 Champions Cup 1800m dirt at Chykyo as one of the favorites on Sunday!!

2020 Triple Tiara winner Daring Tact(JPN), who finished in an unlucky but gutsy 4th in the Japan Cup, will remain in training next year. :D

3rd favorite Jun Light Bolt(JPN), 2017H. King Kamehameha(JPN) x Special Groove(JPN) by Special Week(JPN), captured his first G1 title in the Champions Cup 1800m dirt at Chukyo on Dec 4th 2022 showing his superb acceleration in the final furlong.
That was also the first G1 for his jockey Yukito Ishikawa.
2022 Kentucky Derby starter Crown Pride(JPN) finished in a credible 2nd!!

Interestingly, 5yo Jun Light Bolt rose to stardom on the dirt today starting his racing career on the turf. This race was only his fourth start on the dirt. His life time record is now 25-7-5-2.
Last week, 5yo Vela Azul(JPN) became a new hero on the turf by winning the G1 Japan Cup after switching from the dirt this year!
22-6-4-5.

and.. credit must also go to King Kamehameha(JPN) who continues to show his excellence as a versatile stallion.
He is the sire of the winner and the broodmare sire of the 2nd & the 3rd in this dirt G1.

hey tachyon, i'm not sure if my messages aren't being sent because at least i don't see them in my sent messages :( so let's do it the old fashioned way

what i had been trying to ask is if there is any way i can check an individual mare's cover for 2023, or if the only way to see that is to be lucky enough to find her looking through a stallion's book. thank you!!

Hi Brunanas, if you know the mare's katakana name, then you will find her cover for 2023 by typing it out manually (because Japanese Studbook website doesn't accept copy and paste) the mare's name in katakana in the search box of Japanese studbook Japanese version, which will lead you to the mare's individual page that shows her producing record as well as mating record.
https://www.studbook.jp/users/ja/UserMenu.php

I wonder if finding the mare's katakana name will be the biggest headache for non-Japanese speakers in that process.
And, in a sense, Japanese Studbook Japanese version is unkind for the users as it rejects any copy and paste.
Even if you come to find her katakana name through other website like JBIS or SNS, you can't copy it on the internet and paste it to Japanese Studbook.

So JBIS (English version or Japanese version) will be more realistic way to find the mare's covers for non-Japanese speakers.
JBIS has not yet updated covering records for 2023 yet as of today, but it will surely do at some point (but I have no idea when).

For example, we already know that Gentildonna(JPN) was covered by Drefong(USA) for 2023 thanks to Japanese Studbook Japanese version.
But this is yet to be seen in JBIS.

i found what seems to be an easier way:
just search the mare in the English version of the studbook, for example Princess Noor:
https://www.studbook.jp/users/en/Honba. ... 1512140650
just swap the "en" in the link by "ja", like this:
https://www.studbook.jp/users/ja/Honba. ... 1512140650
it will lead you to their japanese page.
