I'm kind of excited about Frankie spending the winter in California. The other riders in the Santa Anita jocks room may not be.

I'm sorry we won't get to see her in the Japan Cup, but I'm glad they caught it before she ran.

Check out this ride by Mickael Barzalona at Saint-Cloud on November 9th. I'd love to know how much further she ran than the others.

G1 Grand Glory will retire following her run in the Japan Cup. She races for the partnership of Teruya Yoshida and Xavier Marie's Haras de Hus. Afterwards she will be owned solely by Teruya Yoshida and will join the Shadai broodmare band.

After failing to meet her reserve at the December Tattersalls Mares Sale, G1SW Princess Zoe looks to be put into jump training to see if she takes to it.

I will miss watching him ride (and leap off his winning horses ), but look forward to him bringing his knowledge, humor and exuberance to an analyst job.

Just a litte joke from across the pond
Lester Piggot is in the parade ring discussing race tactics with the horse's trainer. The trainer tells Lester that this is the worst horse he has in training, it has had 23 races and finished last in all of them, if it doesn't win today
the milkman will be using it for deliveries in the morning. Lester mounts up and takes the horse down to the start. The race begins and Lester is 30 lengths last after half a furlong, he gives the horse an almighty backhander
on the behind, nothing, he then gives him a series of sharp slaps down the shoulder, nothing, he then gives him two wallops right on the balls the horse comes to a sudden stop, turns round to Lester and says "for christ
sake will you turn it in with that whip I have to be up at half four in the morning to deliver the milk"!

He is listed as being owned by Susan Magnier, but raced in Derrick Smith’s colours. So… I guess those two (and maybe Michael Tabor) just bought out Westerberg when the horse went through the ring at Tatts.20hayes20 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 26, 2022 2:29 amJoseph O’Brien had said he was phasing out of jumps racing, but I guess he’ll be in it for at least another few years if people keep sending him these promising prospects. Super interested to see High Definition over fences, these higher rated staying horses usually get sold on to race in the Middle East or Australia as of late.Northport wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 3:12 pm Also, in case anyone is in the market for a former ante post favourite for the Epsom Derby, High Definition and three other group calibre horses have been added to the Tattersalls Horses in Training Sale by Ballydoyle
High Definition was sold out of Aiden Obriens yard for 350,000 gns but he is not going far. he is to be trained by Josephe Obrien and will go jumping

Frankie Dettori may have announced his retirement from the saddle later this year but the legendary jockey could have one last hurrah on a horse he was asked to name after himself – Lanfranco.
Like Dettori, himself the son of a champion jockey, the two-year-old colt could not be better bred as he is by Frankel out of the former Dettori-ridden mare Coronet and is owned by Prince Faisal Salman, a great friend of the three-time champion rider.
Coronet was partnered by Dettori to five of her six career wins, most notably when landing back-to-back victories at Group 1 level in France in 2019, and has since foaled the colt which the jockey picked out to carry his first name on a visit to the owner’s Denford Stud in Berkshire last year.

Can someone please explain to me how the European racing awards/championships work? Like I thought the Cartier Award is the highest and Blackbeard won 2yo colt. But I just went on TRC and they are saying Little Big Bear was crowned Europe's Champion Juvenile.
To me it almost feels like they do an Experimental Free Handicap and rate the 2yos, then call the highest rated the Champion?
