Justify and Arrogate had similar quality in their first years.

But considering his longevity and the fact that Into Mischief and Gun Runner and Quality Road, etc, are still alive and proven, will he get the very best mares out of the gate? Or will his first book be more comparable to say, Gun Runner or Charleton? I do expect it to be the former, breeders do love their brilliance.
Wonder if Flightline's fee starts above $200k?

tbh, from what i've seen, i dare say Charlatan might have gotten an AP-Justify level first book, if not slightly better. i heard they were denying Gr. III winners with good families.

They claimed Malibu Max out of his last race at Fort Erie for $5k, this is about as cushy a landing spot as he could get. He doesn't have a bad pedigree tbh, no graded stakes winners in his first few dams but a bunch of horses with similarly long careers that made six-figure earnings the hard way. Looks like the farm advertises their other stallion for sport-horses as well as racing and with this guy's soundness and decent sport pedigree (AP Indy + Pleasant Colony) there might be more interest from that direction.

It was certainly a great book but I don't think I would personally say that his first book is on par with AP or Justify (perhaps Arrogate). I was doing some research today and was surprised all over again by some of the mares that were sent to AP, especially at his $200k fee and the fact that POTN was not known for being a sire of sires, or even a supersire until AP came along.

The only (American) elite producers that AP hasn't covered yet, if anyone is interested, are Catch the Moon, Dream of Summer (has been sent to Justify), Indian Miss (the only top sire she's ever visited in Into Mischief), Justwhistledixie (has been sent to Arrogate), Mining My Own (has been sent to Justify), Marion Ravenwood, Sea Gull (has been sent to Arrogate), Serena's Cat (is in Charlatan's first book), Special Me, and Stage Magic.

And ofc Littleprincessemma ;)

Those are THE only “elite” American producers? Are we sure?

Of course not. Elite is subjective, and it’s something I looked into for an hour because I was waiting for the sales to start. But I used the tools I have at my disposal and went through mares that have notable produce records (I used the “best active broodmares” thread as criteria and a point of reference) and checked to see if at any point they had been bred to AP.

Several “elite” mares have been sent to AP but didn’t catch (Charming and Miss Macy Sue, for example). I didn’t count those mares against him.

Has Will Take Charge been quietly moved out of Three Chimneys? I did not see his name listed in a BH article listing their stallions.

He's a shuttler to Uruguay. I think he may just be staying there, or WTC will be private. They had them on their roster for next year I THINK until recently.

Makes sense since his mares bred numbers were low and he has not had many runners although Manny Wah ran ok in the BC.

That is according to Coolmore's site. I've seen it change before though.
