well. no. not at all. The Green Monkey raced three times and never won before breaking down. His peak value was before he ever hit the track. Flightline's peak value is as soon as he is done on the track. He is a proven champion.
$16,000,000 is of course a ton of money, but a horse being valued at 9 figures? The last time that was even mooted was for Frankel, but it could never been confirmed since he has been owned by one man/farm his entire life.

Frankel? Frankel's doing extremely well, his fee has only increased over time. If Flightline replicates that success he's certainly worth 9 figures.SukiSatsuki wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 2:30 pmBut didn’t he fail at studNorthport wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 2:22 pmwell. no. not at all. Can a horse that retires to Ocala winless from three starts be considered a failure when he doesn't set the world on fire as a stallion? His initial fee was $5000. Expectations were rock bottom. Did he fail as a racehorse? Yeah, because he was purchased for a huge sum (though I think Coolmore already owned a share in him) to be a star racehorse. Did he fail as a stallion? I dont really think so. I would be surprised if Hartley/DeRenzo paid over $100,000 for him once he retired.SukiSatsuki wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 2:35 pmThe green monkeyMiss Woodford wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 2:33 pmFrankel? No, but he can certainly be considered a failure of expectations.Northport wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 2:40 pmCan a horse that retires to Ocala winless from three starts be considered a failure when he doesn't set the world on fire as a stallion? Now to be fair, the horse did not set those expectations in the first place.Northport wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 2:40 pmCan a horse that retires to Ocala winless from three starts be considered a failure when he doesn't set the world on fire as a stallion?
