think this is why i can't like him. everyone's losing their minds over him. yes, he's obvs very fast, very talented, but the hype has gotten obnoxious, however deserved i will admit it is.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 05, 2022 5:15 pm I will not compare Flightline to Secretariat.
That doesn't mean I don't enjoy watching him. He has a prodigious talent, but a horse who has run only five times can not be compared to previous great horses who ran more. sometimes a LOT more.
IMHO the comparison to Ghostzapper is the only one that makes any sense.

Well, good to see all of those ads and spots weren't wasted! The call was just too much for me. But as someone who wasn't around until after American Pharoah's career, it's certainly exciting for me to witness a race like that. Flightline is a superstar. Still wouldn't compare him to Secretariat.

There was an article that said it was from his injury when he badly cut himself on a door latch when he was in early training. They said that was where they had injected the antibiotics and it caused his hair to lose pigment.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 05, 2022 5:48 pm Flightline has an interesting white mark on his neck. Almost looks like calligraphy.

I feel ill. I've been on the Epicenter bandwagon since he broke his maiden.
Also, is Sadler rubbing anyone else kind of the wrong way?

Splint on the fetlock, prognosis very unlikely to be goodMiss Woodford wrote: ↑Sat Nov 05, 2022 5:54 pmEpicenter walked onto the ambulance fwiw, I'm not sure why everyone is declaring him dead on arrival at this point.

Sesamoids probably. They had the screens up before he was loaded. Can't believe there's no acknowledgment in all that crazy celebration of what Epicenter and his connections are going through right now.

As soon as they said fetlock I assumed the worst. Hoping it is not life threatening but not optimistic. This looked like it could be the best two days of Asmussen’s life but im sure he will wish he could forget most of it.
Flightline is wonderful though. I may have cried in the stretch. As soon as you see a jockey motionless like that then looking over his shoulder 2-3 furlongs from home you know the race is over.
More importantly, rooting for Epicenter

I hope it's "just" a sesamoid injury with Epicenter and they can save him.
Flightline... he's a really, really good horse and I would compare him to Ghostzapper. But nothing more. It's like they're all forgetting about the great horses from the past as soon as a real standout talent comes along (like with Arrogate or even Justify). I'm trying to compare him to Frankel and Frankel is still rated a mile above Flightline for me (cause he raced for 3 years, over multiple distances etc). Just appreciate Flightline for what he is. A real standout for the last 5 years. I love seeing him run, so it's not like I "dislike" the horse (how could you ever dislike a horse anyway). I just find the whole "best I've ever seen" cringe.
I looooved his performance when he was running with Life Is Good, what a sight to see those two together! And props for Life is Good owners to try!

With respect, sesamoid or condylar fractures are not necessarily a death sentence as they were in previous years. Depending on the type of injury, there are many surgical options available like lag screw fixation or fetlock arthrodesis. Hopefully there hasn’t been too much disruption of soft tissue or blood supply around the injury site, if it is a fracture.Tessablue wrote: ↑Sat Nov 05, 2022 5:56 pmSplint on the fetlock, prognosis very unlikely to be goodMiss Woodford wrote: ↑Sat Nov 05, 2022 5:54 pmEpicenter walked onto the ambulance fwiw, I'm not sure why everyone is declaring him dead on arrival at this point.

You know what? This win makes me appreciate harness racing and Bulldog Hanover that much more. I will be savoring his final two starts.

my stream ended so idk if there was anything other than a very short interview with the track vet.
