I’m not going to go overboard, but Dreaming of Julia is as good of a broodmare as she was a race horse...better even

After a not-wonderful start, she made a move up the backstretch to pass most of the field, and then zoomed by the rest coming around the last turn five wide.
Yeah, the full sister to Malathaat looked really good. 8-)
1:29.43 for 7f, though…. Or is the track at Keeneland slow today?
The DRF article said its seven furlongs and 184 feet. She got a 71 beyer. Not really sure why they chose to make that distance, its kind of odd.

If anyone is wondering what Dreaming of Julia has in the pipeline:

21 - filly by Medaglia d’Oro
22 - filly by Curlin
23 - bred to Into Mischief

Somehow I’m always surprised when I remember that Stonestreet owns both Dreaming of Julia and Cavorting. How fun is must be to watch their fillies battle it out on the track!

(Maybe even more fun next year since they retained both of the full sisters to Malathaat and Clairiere, haha.)

Nice...not that I expected anything less - thank you! I do wish she’d have a colt, finally...4 fillies ?

Cavorting is one of my all time favorites, and a very underrated filly.,,

DOJ has had 5 fillies. Her first, Golden Julia by MDO, who they said was absolutely spectacular, got injured in her stall and died before she started at 2.

Also Cavorting hasn't had a foal since 2020 (which is a Curlin colt they sold who is named Judge Miller).

I think Julia gets her broodmare talents from her momma. Dream Rush is a pretty talented broodmare, herself!

I think she gets then at least as much from her papa, who’s a brilliant broodmare sire

She was barren in both 2021 and 2022? What a shame...

Yes, I did read that about Golden Julia. 😭😭💔

Pure Pauline (Curlin x G2 Keen Pauleen) dead heated with Grand Entrance (Bernardini x Grand Pauline (dam of Keen Pauline)) in the 9th at Keeneland. As a family of this female family... this is a great result

This is the racing chart:

PURE PAULINE stalked along the inside, chased under urging around the far turn, sustained stride turning for home to bid inside of the leader in upper
stretch, drew clear leaving the furlong grounds, but was caught at the wire to dead heat with her aunt and stablemate. GRAND ENTRANCE broke slowly
and trailed, came under a drive three wide around the far turn before fanning to the seven path entering the lane, rallied through the final furlong with her
clear niece to catch, and reeled her in at the wire to dead heat.

Potus (Lemon Drop Kid x Place of Honor), a...say it with me folks...Phipps-bred formerly trained by Shug McGaughey now in the barn of Jack Fisher...won the second maiden hurdle at Great Meadow today. 2nd dam is My Flag, 3rd dam Personal Ensign.

Tapwood (Tapit x Better Lucky), was 2rd in the first maiden hurdle. Zarkallani (Invincible Spirit x Zarkava), who has repeatedly shown he wants no part of jumps racing, was pulled up.

He's a nice colt. I imagine he will be a hot commodity as a stallion prospect.

ETA: She finished 2nd, after leading into the stretch, got passed by Kaling (Practical Joke). Has the Wesley Ward speed, but may need a bit of seasoning to gain some stamina.
Rarify broke her maiden at Keeneland yesterday in her third start.

Have we previously had a Breeders Cup where 2 offspring out of the same mare are both racing (in different races or the same, for that matter)? Nest and Lost Ark are both out of the AP Indy mare, Marion Ravenwood. It looks pretty good on her CV!

Yes easily over 10 times. If you are really curious, the Breeders Cup has a stats page where you can look at stuff like that. Though you will have to scroll through the list and count, it will put all starters(with years/race) under their dam.
