Squeaky and I are working on a BC contest for next week! Should be much like the Derby one- choosing from two-three pools per race, if that sounds good to everyone?
Glancing through the pre-entries, it looks like a nice competitive year. The Juvenile field is pretty grim, but that's been the case for a few years now. The Sprint looks like it'll actually be pretty good this year, the Distaff and Classic are quality over quantity, and the turf races are all huge and competitive. From a betting perspective, I might be most looking forward to the F&M Sprint- love her, but Letruska and Echo Zulu will both be spectacular bet-againsts in there.

Rich Strike coughed a few times after his Tues breeze so trainer keeping close eye on him. Scoping and bloodwork normal and did not cough Thurs after jogging in shed row . Will return to track to gallop on Fri. I almost feel would be blessing in disguise if they waited for Clark instead.

That ruins my fantasy of Rich Strike beating Flightline in the Classic though.Squeaky wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 9:09 am Rich Strike coughed a few times after his Tues breeze so trainer keeping close eye on him. Fun fact: Slammed and Senor Buscador are the first New Mexico-breds to contest the Breeders' Cup since...Rick's Natural Star.

So I know we talk about horses being put in tough races after layoffs that are big asks of the horse, like when Forbidden Kingdom came back to run in the SA Sprint Championship. But what about Domestic Spending? He hasn't raced since August 14th, 2021 and is entered in the Mile. I feel bad for horses put in these kind of situations. Hopefully all goes well and maybe he can pull off a Da Hoss.

It would be an amazing win, and I hope he can do it. The horse had a stellar year last year until his injury.Flanders wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 7:03 pm So I know we talk about horses being put in tough races after layoffs that are big asks of the horse, like when Forbidden Kingdom came back to run in the SA Sprint Championship. I don't think Brown would even consider running him if he wasn't doing fantastic right now. Adds a lot of intrigue, and there are some shades of Animal Kingdom there.
Just took a bit of a look at the Juvenile Turf Sprint field, and it's like every single horse in there wants to be on or near the lead. Should be pretty wild!

I think Highland Princess will give him a fight. She’s turned into a beat this year. It’s a shame The Platinum Queen has has to run in the Juvy Turf Sprint instead. Can you imagine the three of them in one race?

Castellano isn't making headlines the way he once did, but he's a good choice.tachyon wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 6:50 pm Ivar(BRZ) will be ridden by Javier Castellano for the first time in the BC Mile.
