He was such a handsome devil and Arrowfield promoted him big time when he retired.
I'd not been able to find him until I read that article the other day.
he's apparently in Tunisia siring sporthorses. https://twitter.com/tajraasi/status/158 ... Hyv0w&s=19
Blood horse quoted him elsewhere:
"until the 2021 season before being sold to stand in Morocco."
"It's been my policy to view the Internet not as an 'information highway', but as an electronic asylum filled with babbling loonies."

Yep and they were wrong. All the Australian sites since the Everest said he went from France to Tunisia.

He was a heckuva racehorse and a good stallion. There can’t be many Danehills left at stud.

Who wants to breed to a horse who with behavioral issues severe enough to be a danger to himself and others on the track and who couldn't make it to his 3yo season before retirement?

Oh who am I kidding he'll get 200 mares his first season.

“Blackbeard was a very exciting horse to ride,” said Ryan Moore who partnered him in all but one of his eight starts.
"exciting" lol. 80% of the mission was staying in the saddle before he even got into the gate

And this announcement only a few hours after announcing Rock of Gibraltar died. Rough day for coolmore.losing a beloved stallion and having to retire a promising two year old

I was actually thinking the other day that it seemed like 2023 would be the first year in a while that Coolmore Ireland didn’t have any new stallions on the roster. Removing a bone chip from a knee isn’t career ending, especially heading into the winter season where the horse wouldnt be racing anyway (besides the BC).

But being a speedy and early dual G1 winning two year old by this year’s best sire of two year olds, im sure retirement really was a no brainer. They have an empty stall to fill now that Rock of Gibraltar is gone and im sure the phone has been ringing off the hook all day with inquiries since the announcement of his retirement.
