SPUN PRETTY is a maiden no more! She won race #3 at Belterra Park today. Her record is now 11-1-1-4. Seems like she was waiting for a two-turn opportunity on the turf.

SPARKLE BLUE ran a really good race in the VIrginia Derby at Colonial Downs today. She tracked in second the whole way and passed the leader, only to be passed herself by a horse that came from off the pace. The early leader faded to 8th. The race was 1-1/8 miles and she had not raced in over 2 months. Her record is now 6-3-1-0. There was a horrible mishmash that she got caught in coming off the far turn. The horse at the rail blew the turn and pushed a bunch of horses out really wide, but SPARKLE BLUE recovered and finished gamely. That was a crazy sight to see. Lucky nobody went down!

SISTER SEAGULL won the $250K Wonder Where Stakes at 1 1/4 miles on the turf at Woodbine today. Race #8. Her record is now 8-3-1-1. So, she has won the second and third legs of Canada's Triple Tiara. She was second in the first leg.

NECKER ISLAND cannot catch a break. He finished 3rd today by two noses in a very tight finish in the Louisville Thoroughbred Society S. at Churchill Downs. He has been running well lately. He finished first in his last race but was DQd to 3rd for interference and the stakes race before that he won. His record is now 28-7-3-6. One of these days....

TWO PHIL'S won the $50k Shakopee Juvenile Stakes for 2 year olds at Canturbury Park today. His record is now 3-2-0-0. Hard Spun is not known for producing stakes winning 2 year olds, something breeders seem to look for, so this is a good win for Hard Spun.

If this race counts as blacktype, he would be HS's 96th stakes winner. I could not find the current guidelines on purse amount to qualify as blacktype.

HIGHWAY ROBBER won his debut in race #10 at Churchill Downs today. His record is 1-1-0-0. Ran on his wrong lead the entire stretch...finally switched just as he crossed the finish line. Despite that he still pulled away from the field. and he really kept his eye on the cameraman when he came back to the winner's circle after the race..."what are you pointing that thing at me for?!" lol!

REFI won race #8 at Shewan Downs today. This is the steeplechase circuit. This was a training race on the flat at 1-3/8 miles. Very exciting come from behind win. He wears #12 saddlecloth.

HARD TO FIGURE is a maiden no more after winning the $75K Capote Stakes (race #10) at Los Alamitos today. Finished third in two maiden races before this. Today they took the blinkers off. I guess that helped. Hard Spun's 97th stakes winner and second juvenile stakes winner this year, I believe. Two Phil's won a stakes race at Canterbury Park.

SPUNGIE won race #3 at Belmont at the Big A today. She was in some horrible traffic and had to wait to go around several horses, but still came on strongly and won. Her record is now 8-3-2-1.

A THREAD OF BLUE won race # 5 at Woodbine today. Long time since his last win. His record now: 29-6-4-6

This guy has won over $1million and he's been running in claiming races. So sad to see. Not in for a tag today, though. So glad to see him win one.
