I guess that’s the Into Mischief at work, because the two G1 wins via DQ dont really get the pulse racing.
I wonder what happened? They don’t mention an injury.
His last three races were very poor efforts, there may be no obvious injuries (that have been announced) but the horse clearly has lost his spark. If connections dont think he has a chance in the Breeder’s Cup (which I really dont think he does), I suppose why bother keeping him in training to potentially throw in another clunker of an effort on the international stage.
I was going to type something very similar but had to run to the store. Adding to what you said, he had a slower than average workout on September 3rd, that may have also helped in their decision. I also agree that he had zero chance in any BC race.

If they can get $25,000, more power to them. Seems steep to me given his limited accomplishments (two G1's won via DQ).

At one point he was very highly regarded, but he certainly had an issue of some kind.
I think the price is reasonable, he is a multiple graded SW by a very popular stallion.

Not gonna beat up on a very nice horse, he didn't "choose" to go thru The Baffert Program.

Had he been under the patient guidance of another trainer, he probably would have had a different outcome.

And he won't be the only one 1/2 or almost lame or just escaped being lame, after a very short career with you-know-who, you know, that guy-who's- good-for-racing........., what's his name.

I wish for Corniche to produce some really nice offspring and have a delightful retirement. He deserves it.

Just think - if Tacitus won a G1 (or two!) by disqualification he would get to be at Juddmonte instead of Taylor Made, too!

You're absolutely right--he wouldn't have been two year old champion with "patient guidance." (BTW he's a horse, not a monastic novice. )
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

appeals to breeders who want big wins but don't think their horses will ever be that lucky super star - maybe dad's luck rubs off and they get some technical GSWs!

A true breeder wouldn't care very much about the wins or whether they were by DQ, but would instead focus on the phenotype of that new stallion, combined with the strength of pedigree behind him and whether these provide the key ingredients to click with their mare.

I suppose breeding to sell has a different dynamic, but breeding to improve breeders don't care much about the nuance of race results, (providing he kept the right company). Or they shouldn't.

So a friend of mine was at the Spendthrift Breeder's Party and apparently Cyberknife, Jackie's Warrior, and Greatest Honour are all going to be standing next year. Who are they getting rid of to make room? I’m gonna say win win win and hit it a bomb

Who is Greatest Honour?

I think it's more likely to be Cross Traffic, Hit It a Bomb, Gormley, etc. than it is Temple City. He is their oldest stallion and has stood there his entire career, plus he was bred and owned by them.

Really take your pick of any others to leave, including newbies like Basin.

Not sure of their current set up at Spendthrift, as its owned by different people, but back in the 80s they stood a massive amount of stallions. So its possible they have more stallion stalls available. In 1986 they stood 40 stallions. Yes they isn't a mistype, they had 40 stallions.
