I don't recall much going on when Liz passed away.

I don't either. I think the media frenzy surrounding both Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston was bigger than Liz by quite a bit. And perhaps Prince as well. But they were all still at a relatively young age, so the "shock" factor was bigger with them, too!

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Yes - and deservedly so, after all he was the president. I think we can all still remember what we were doing when we heard the news. The death of the queen, to the best of my recollection, seems to be the most news covered event globally since the death of JFK, though the death of Michael Jackson is right up there as well.stark wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 10:26 amJFK?Missbeholder wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 10:07 amI don't either. In 1968, my older sister was worn out from taking care of her infant child and was dozing. Just after Bobby Kennedy was shot, her husband came bursting in their room and proclaimed, “Kennedy was shot!!” and then quickly left the room. In her child rearing haze she sat up and said, “I know that!” before consciousness seeped in and she understood he meant Robert not John. As for me, when JFK met his demise, I wasn’t yet walking and was no where near the grassy knoll living in a suburb of Los Angeles, so it was not I. I was five but I do remember RFK well. I remember my father proclaiming, “There’s one of the Rams!” Rosey Greer, the hulking defensive tackle, had been hired by the Kennedy Campaign to be a body guard for Robert.barbaro111 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 10:40 amYes - and deservedly so, after all he was the president. And I’ve always found actors and actresses to be such shy retiring types. Wherever Harry’s testicles reside, I have a hunch he knew of their ultimate destination going in, if not shame on him.barbaro111 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 1:34 pmDon't get me started on Meghan! She is an attention whore for sure--- Harry will rue the day he married her- I think
she has his balls in her purse

It was nice to see the “Fab Four” as the press is calling them now, out making a “surprise” walkabout to shake hands and talk to the British public who lined up outside Windsor castle. A lot of babies and dogs were held up for pictures and there were lots of lovely flowers. I wonder if there will be reconciliation between the brothers. I did read that Harry is “writing” a book about his negative experiences with the Royal Family- that is not going to help. William looking very Royal- he seems like a natural leader.

It is sad that there is any sort of division in the Royal family, especially at this time. I hope that the love and respect they had for their grandmother dissolves any issues between the brothers.
I am curious why there such rancor toward Meghan. Just because she's an actress? Or because she is woman of color who publicly called out the subtle (or maybe not-so-subtle) racism lurking in the attitudes of that very traditional, very white, family.

I follow the BRF… the rift goes far beyond the brothers. William invited his brother because he felt it was important for the family to be united at such a terrible time. He’s very statesmanlike, and he’ll be a great help to his father. I think both will make excellent kings.Squeaky wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 2:39 pm It was nice to see the “Fab Four” as the press is calling them now, out making a “surprise” walkabout to shake hands and talk to the British public who lined up outside Windsor castle. Harry and Meghan have ripped his father and the BRF mercilessly; if the book is published, reconciliation will be impossible, ever. The only way I see this rift healing is if Harry pulls the plug on the book, and remembers that he does love his father, brother and family. Does he really want to isolate himself so completely? And live with regrets for the rest of his life? Only he can answer that question.
Meghan is horrid…

I mean, if you’re assuming the racism angle, there’s no point in me answering your question.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 3:43 pm It is sad that there is any sort of division in the Royal family, especially at this time. Helped rip this family apart and she is enjoying it----Harry was easy pickings for her.
I believe she doesn't want to share Harry with his family--Her need for attention
Is pathological IMO

I didn't realize that you personally know her. You must have spent a lot of time with her to be so sure of your opinion.

. She’s a hard, unforgiving person - she talks about compassion but doesn’t know the meaning of the word. Where is hers for her father? I think she’s encouraged Harry - not that it’s not on him- in his resentments. Everything is about her - she wants to be the bride at every wedding, the corpse at every funeral.barbaro111 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 6:10 pmI agree Meghan is a horrible person and I don't believe her accusations of racism--she hasSlewfan2 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 5:00 pmI follow the BRF… the rift goes far beyond the brothers. I loathe what Harry has become, but I wouldn’t wish on anyone a lifetime of regret …which he will have if something happens to his father before he makes amends
