Colt or filly? If he/she has four fairly straight legs, I can imagine that the the bids will climb into the rafters....maybe more because of the dam than the sire. Famous as Justify may be, Dream of Summer is a blue hen mare.

Considering all of the positive market indicators at FTSAR, the Keeneland folks must be very, very happy.

Bloodhorse just shared an article stating that Jane Lyon withdrew Eagles Flight, the Curlin half-brother to Flightline, from the sale to retain and race as her own.

I can’t say I blame her but I was curious to see how much he hammered for.

Sad to say, but likely where he belongs.
CC was a one hit wonder and the dam has produced nothing else, even when bred to far better sires.
LIS not faring much better as a broodmare even with the best opportunities. 9 of racing age and nothing to speak of. Guess even Uncle Mo can't overcome that stigma.

Not too surprising this one couldn't even remain sound enough to make it to the yearling sale.

It seems more likely that Stonestreet has just elected to keep this one. Some possible motivating factors:

1) It wouldn't be disingenuous to say Forest Music is/will someday be considered one of their foundation mares.
2) Forest Music died in 2021 and this is her last foal, a filly.
3) Unless I'm mistaken, she is one of only 2 female offspring from Forest Music (the other being GSW Electric Forest).
4) Filly is by top broodmare sire Bernardini.

Look, I don't know if she was placed in Book 2 because she's not a spectacular physical and would have had a better chance to stand out than if she'd been in Book 1. Maybe Stonestreet wasn't happy with her catalogue placement. Maybe they felt she was more valuable for their program than she was to sell. EDIT: My bad, I was thinking that only the first session was Book 1. This filly was catalogued in Book 1.

She could definitely have developed an issue recently, that doesn't mean she's inherently unsound, but would affect her walk or radiographs for the sale. We all know it can just be bad timing. Something relatively minor can be bothering a horse at the time of the sale. A week later, it's fully resolved and you'd never know there had been a problem. But by then the sale is over. And since so many potential buyers will scratch a horse off their list if it just looks at them funny, sellers may not want to send them there with even a small issue.

I sure hope the filly is more like her dad and doesn't get mama's soundness issues. All her siblings sure did.

I love and miss Bernardini, and I hope this one - filly or colt ? - will be a runner.

Edit:

She’s a filly, good. I refuse to speculate about soundness issues when there’s no proof she or any other yearlings withdrawn have them. Bernardini is a brilliant BMS, and there won’t be many of his daughters left; that’s enough reason for her owner to keep this sweet girl.

*sigh* I know many of the buzz horses are withdrawn from the sale for one reason or another but a lot of the hips that I was really excited about are outs now. Of course we'll still (probably) see them on the track but I do love the excitement that comes w a yearling like, for example, America's Joy.
