An unnamed jockey passed away tonight after a racing accident in Kerry, Ireland. The card was a mix of horse and pony races, I’m not sure if it was a pony race but they are described as a young person :( They hold the beach races there every year.

This is so terribly sad. The rider was young Jack De Bromhead, son of champion trainer Henry. Jack had just won his first race a few days ago.

I’m glad Include spent his entire stallion at one farm and that he was well-loved. Broad Bush was one of my favorites and I’m happy he had a good sire son.

i remember hearing about a starting gate tail injury a long time ago, that resulted in euthanasia... it was graphic, from my understanding. the word "unzipped" was used. i'm trying not to be any more descriptive than needed while still explaining.
while i hope this was less traumatic, i'm not too sure it was.

‘A Very Special Horse To Be Around’: Pin Oak Stud’s Broken Vow Dies At Age 25
Broken Vow (Unbridled–Wedding Vow, by Nijinsky II) passed away peacefully from natural causes on Sept. 3 at his birthplace and longtime home, Pin Oak Stud. He was 25 years old.

His six Grade 1 winners include Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner and Eclipse champion Champagne Room, the co-topweight female sprinter of her year Sassy Image, as well as Cotton Blossom, Unbridled Belle, and Rosalind.

Additionally, Broken Vow has made a name for himself as a broodmare sire, as his daughters have already produced three champions and some 100 black type horses, including Eclipse champion Runhappy.

The news was not totally unexpected, but seeing the headlines this morning still broke my heart.
She was a great queen in an era that was moving away from monarchy all over the world. And she was a great ally of and participant in horse racing.
Royal Ascot will never be the same.

Tony Leonard took a handful of wonderful photos of the Queen - including one feeding a mint to Round Table.

When Prince Philip passed away last year (man was it already a year ago? Doesn't seem like it). I wondered if the Queen wouldn't be too long behind. My background as far as work goes has been in long term care and hospice clients and ive seen that all too often with spouses(especially elderly ones) where one spouse passes away and then the other one follows not too long after because of a broken heart and loneliness and then their health declines. It's extremely sad and Royal Ascot is going to feel so strange next year with the Queen missing. And it feels strange that Prince Charles is now King Charles III as he's been prince Charles all my life

Camilla now becomes the Queen Consort....which means that Princess Diana's sons will have to bow to the woman who played a part in destroying their mother's marriage.
That bothers me...and I cannot imagine how much it will bother them. :(

They'll have to bow to King Charles, who played a bigger part in destroying their mother's marriage.
