Does More than Ready have any good stallion sons to carry on his legacy? I’m hoping Catholic boy will turn into a good one.

Sebring was a really good stallion but he died at age 13. I think he has a couple sons at stud in Australia. IDK if MTR has any other top notch stallions in the SH, they really haven't been breeders favorites in the US.

Sebring has a bunch of sons at stud actually, and the ones with offspring on the track have had quite a bit of success

There will be a sense of loss worldwide, with MTR having sired champions in both Northern and Southern Hemispheres.

That's a huge loss.
I was a big fan of More Joyous(NZ).
MTR was a broodmare sire of Cafe Pharoah(USA), too.
May he rest in peace.

After taking a break from racing for a while, I fell in love with Rushing Fall when she won the BC Juvenile Filly Turf. And I loved More Than Ready. He could get you a good horse on turf or dirt, in any hemisphere. I'm really sad.

I wish Funtastic would make it as a sire, but he's up against it. He does have an entry Saturday in a MSW at Saratoga. But it's a turf race and he's in MTO. The trainer is Wesley Ward, so he should be ready to fire whenever he does run.

The are off turf in the 2nd race, so the Funtastic son, Funtastic Again, will run.

Edit: He was pretty worked up before the race, but managed to run quite professionally and won easily.

Gotta think Daredevil will be a good one despite the fact that he’s been sorta quiet since his first crop. It obviously doesn’t help that he missed a season at stud but he’s had two recent, good stakes winners, one of them a 2YO.

The Turkish Jockey Club, which is run by the government, buys stallions to help improve the breed in Turkey so only charges minimal stud fees. But that unknown is do US breeders even like him? He didn't get 100 mares his first year back.

Ugh. Learning about More Than Ready's passing was like a punch to the gut -- he was my favorite stallion. I love the Hail to Reason line in general, but this was my favorite branch. What a tremendous sire he was -- topflight runners going short or long, dirt or turf, from a variety of dams and broodmare sires.

Hearing that Funtastic got his first winner takes a little of the sting out thoughl.

So sad to hear about More Than Ready's passing. I was a fan of his while he was racing and it was so great to see him be so successful at stud. Year after year, he turned out fillies and colts on turf and dirt, going all distances. I feel like he was never the It sire, but he was reliably good. I think his legacy is secure as a broodmare sire, but I'm hoping Catholic Boy does well at stud and Daredevil finds that magic again.
