Ohana Honor colt out of Spacy Tracy...just a gorgeous boy. I love his face - the blaze starts in the middle of his face, it’s so unique - at least to me. His tail is glorious...
He’s been working really well, but sadly is the AE in the maiden race at the Spa on Saturday, so he’ll probably have to run next week.
The 9 scratched in the 7th at Saratoga, the 6-furlong MSW for 2yos, so it looks like Ohana Honor will be running. Good luck.

Second picture in the slide is of Hayayakko (by King Kamehameha), who is showing a white mask over his base gray color. You don't normally see this because he wears blinkers. Very pretty.

Kazakh-bred mare Aybarsha (by Bremen) is basically palomino. She is at 34:30 and she won the race. She is sired by a US-bred son of Lemon Drop Kid, her dam was bred in Ukraine, and her damsire was bred in Russia.

It's called flaxen chestnut. There are no palomino TBs that are racing horses.Mylute wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 1:01 pm Kazakh-bred mare Aybarsha (by Bremen) is basically palomino. That’s not strictly correct, they are just incredibly rare. Regalo Del Oro is JC registered as palomino.Palace Malice wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 3:15 pmIt's called flaxen chestnut. They are mostly sport horses though. Almost all of them never raced or were unsuccessful.brunanas wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 4:35 pmZillionair and his own sire Issue of Gold are also registered palominos.Le Beau Bai wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 4:28 pmThat’s not strictly correct, they are just incredibly rare. Calumet bought some palomino mares that they bred to their stallions. I saw one of the resultant foals on the Eclipse Awards.Palace Malice wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 5:11 pmThey are mostly sport horses though. but they were still bred to be racehorses, so they do exist, although they are rare.Palace Malice wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 5:11 pmThey are mostly sport horses though. They were, I don't know if they still do it. I think I've shared my own opinion on the subject here before so I'll just note that while there have been several successful dominant-white and pinto TBs on the track, not a single palomino/buckskin/cremello/perlino Thoroughbred has so much as finished on the board in an actual horse race, even when they have racing lines mixed into their pedigree. It's almost like the two palomino "Thoroughbred" stallions that magically appeared in the mid-20th century that every dilute TB traces back to weren't actually pure Thoroughbred...

Option1 : Thoroughbreds were mixed with others breds and that's why the colored ones are not good racers. Option2 : There were indeed colored thoroughbreds back in the days but they were not good racers/breeders so they became rarer and rarer...
Option3: Racing people always preferred the plain chestnuts, bays and browns (apparently some people still believe that chromey horses with socks and blazes aren't as good... this is sad)

My guess is that it's a combination of options 2 and 3. Colored thoroughbreds have always been rare. So considering how many of the 'plain' TB's are not successful, it's not that surprising that none of the the 'pretties' have been record-breakers. And if you think about other breeds, it's not all that different. Greys have been nearly eliminated from standardbred lines. As for quarter horses? Duns, palominos, buckskins, and roans are common in the breed, but they've been nearly completely bred out of the racing lines. (Even though at least two palominos were world champions in the not-too-distant past.) In thoroughbreds, grey horses are becoming less common than they were years ago, in spite of Tapit being one of the priciest stallions out there. It seems as if we are likely destined to a future of watching fields full of look-alikes, only distinguishable by silks and saddlecloths, with the rare 'Ohhhh, that one has a blaze!' thrown in.Palace Malice wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 11:27 pmOption1 : Thoroughbreds were mixed with others breds and that's why the colored ones are not good racers. Captain Yenner (by Bahamian Squall) has some "rabicano" markings and a unique blaze.

The #9 in Kentucky Downs' fourth race Pappy Wolfe (Justify) has a kind of gulastra plume. He managed to not finish last, which I thought he would because he broke very slow and acted like he just wanted to gallop around.
