I saw Swain about two months ago at Old Friends. The guide leading our group was already really fond of him - she said he had the manners of a child's hunter. He was rolling in the dirt when we first go to his paddock, but he popped back up and trotted right over once he saw us. His eyes were bright and alert, and he seemed really happy to me - like he loved being the center of attention.

Yes, thanks! I remember getting a photo of Game on Dude rolling in 2018 and thinking "Happy, lucky boy!" (Although on reflection it might have been his pasture buddy Little Mike,)
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Swain looks like a happy content boy to me in those pictures.

Gun Runner sired three of the first four home in the Amsterdam (G2), including the winner, Gunite. Considering how much better GR got as he got older, can’t wait to see if his offspring do the same.

City of Light definitely wasn't precocious (his "coming out" party was the Malibu) but I'm kind of surprised they all seem to be late-blooming. He's also had very few starters.

Gun Runner's 2022 fee is now listed as "Private" on Stallion Register and Three Chimney's website. Does anybody know when it went from $125,000 to Private? Did they hike his price mid season and civilians like me just didn't notice? If you booked a mare to him at $125,000 are you SOL?
Will he still be listed as Private in 2023? I think $200,000+ is a fair ask, at this rate.

as long as you signed a contract at the 125k fee, then you would get that. But if you booked late, then you have to pay what they want.Northport wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 10:46 pm Gun Runner's 2022 fee is now listed as "Private" on Stallion Register and Three Chimney's website. I think it's for the mares he's going to breed this fall on southern hemisphere time. They've said that the book will be very selective, so I think the fee is negotiable. I suspect that they will set a firm fee after the Breeder's Cup for next spring.Northport wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 10:46 pm Gun Runner's 2022 fee is now listed as "Private" on Stallion Register and Three Chimney's website. Sharp Azteca has narrowly overtaken Justify as the leading first-crop sire. He had two blacktype stakes winners this weekend: Tyler's Tribe and Sharp Aza Tack.
His stud fee is also listed as private now; I wonder if he will also be available to southern hemisphere mares.
