So, as Mylute noted in a previous post, SNAP DECISION is entered in the Colonial Cup Stakes at 1 1/2 miles at Colonial Downs on Monday, July 25. I just realized that it's a flat race. He's not entered in the G1 Smithwick at Saratoga, which is where I think he would be expected to appear. I suppose this is because of the handicap conditions in the Smithwick, which would pile the weight on him. He didn't run at Saratoga last summer for that exact reason. So, I am guessing the reason for entering in this race would be to help him maintain condition for the fall races on the NSA circuit. It's already over 2 months since his last race. Last year he sat the entire summer out and may have been at a conditioning disadvantage when he faced the Mean Queen in the fall. Any other thoughts on this????

REALLY GOOD won his debut in race #1 at Saratoga on Saturday, July 23. His record: 1-1-0-0. This is the second really nice 2yo debut win for Hard Spun babies at Saratoga in the past few days.

SNAP DECISION finished a very close 3rd in the Colonial Cup Stakes. He was in terrible traffic in the stretch with nowhere to go for an extended period. Confident it cost him at least second.

SPUN GLASS became a stakes winner today. She won the $75K Jameela Stakes at Laurel Park. 5 1/2 furlongs on the grass. She is Hard Spun's 93rd stakes winner.

He did relatively well in this distance flat race.

I wonder if they would consider giving him a shot in a graded distance race?

Pleasecallmeback (CAN) (out of Dixie Chicken by Rahy) won a maiden hurdle at Colonial today. One of two Hard Spuns in the race - Hard Game (out of Grand Slam Girl by Grand Slam) finished off the board.

Zero chance, he's a big fish in a small pond right now and 8 is old by flat standards but prime jumps racing age. The Colonial Turf Cup was a prep for the Jonathan Sheppard and/or Lonesome Glory.

Not that I don't agree there is little chance, but the speed numbers SNAP DECISION got in that stakes race were right in line with numbers he was getting as a youngster on the flat. In fact, his Equibase speed number was higher than any he got back then, so it appears he has not lost a step in the intervening years. However, he wasn't exactly a stakes horse back then, so....

In Australia, HARD EMPIRE won Race 8, the Group 2 EXPEDO MISSILE STAKES at Royal Randwick in New South Wales on Saturday, August 6. His third stakes win. He previously won G3 George Moore Stakes and G3 R N Irwin Stakes. They said after the race that his odds were 100-1! He is 9 years old. Holy Cow.
