Kinda glad they're getting a break and not shuttling. Always felt like shuttling and also breeding almost year round with only a few months break in between seasons takes way too much out of the stallions

Justify has been wearing special shoes that are totally covering his front hooves since May, and I've read from others that American Pharoah has been taking forever to breed to mares. Those probably factored into the decision.

Have to admit I was wrong here and I'm happy about that. Stradivarius will stand in the UK for flat mares only, though no stud deal has been made yet, there are some farms interested in standing him. His owner is very passionate about standing him at stud and what he thinks Stradivarius will offer to the breed. :D I know Baroqueagain will be very happy to read this article.

This was Justify at the end of May. We were told on the tour that the boots were to help transition him from wearing shoes.

How do I get permission to view your photos? As a big heavy horse, Justify’s feet would be a special concern. Do you mean they are pulling his shoes off?

Every time I see a candid photo of Justify, he has some new kind of shoe or boot holding his front feet together. He has been retired for three years now, it’s kind of wild that they only just have been able to pull his shoes in the last couple months. I cant remember, but was it quarter cracks that he had? I remember he had some bar shoes on when he paraded at Coolmore Australia.

Surely this won't make people more suspicious of the horse.

He had a cracked heel which Baffert misidentified as scratches after the Derby. Then some ankle swelling after the Belmont which I never read what the actual diagnosis was. Now apparently there are ongoing foot problems . I hope and pray he does not get laminitis.

Interesting and I’m sure that’s a way to use themes. Most of the time we used them for mares who have lost a shoe and we used one of those boots on the bare foot until the farrier put a new shoe on. Sometimes we use them on really lame horses.

Interesting.

Shogood (Nobiz Like Shobiz × Good and Rough, by Good and Tough) will enter stud in Illinois this year.

He won the G3 Arlington Washington Futurity, another blacktype stakes, and placed in two more. He has a record of 39: 8-8-3. He raced up until 2020 so I don't know where he's been since then.

Don't worry. Shogood is not a product of horse sibling incest.

Terrific! I was fond of Beach Patrol as a racehorse and I am thrilled he has a juvenile winner so early in the season.

Interesting article on the apparent Galileo induced bottleneck/corner that Coolmore appears to have backed itself into when it comes to the future of its stallion roster.
As I have remarked several times before, these middle-distance sons of Galileo are so plentiful that they are going to have to do something really special to stand apart from the crowd and become commercially desirable stallions. That situation might be a good advert for the late multiple champion sire’s powers, but is less so for the long-term business model of covering big books.

I think they are doing what Japanese breeders have done. Start/continue outcrossing some of their lines with other lines. I know they were trying to do so with Scat Daddy, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to mix in some Sunday Silence, Kitten's Joy or even English Channel. And although I'm not as familiar, I know the German and French breeders have some great stallion lines too.

Unfortunately, it will probably take a few seasons to really see the result of these outcrosses.

Coolmore had bred some of their mares to Deep Impact, and I'm sure they will continue to utilize Japanese stallions, even if Deep Impact is gone.
Sadly, Snowfall, their prized filly by Deep Impact, is also gone. That was probably a huge loss to their breeding hopes.
