idk if it is just my phone but i couldn't see the photo. i found a "fix" though if others have this issue, just quote the reply and there will be a link between the [img] [/ img], just copy that link into the browser and it should be good to go. perhaps this is also a well known fix here and i'm dumb lol

It's not just your phone, I had to do the same thing. At any rate, that's a great example of "bloody" markings!brunanas wrote: ↑Sat May 28, 2022 2:32 amidk if it is just my phone but i couldn't see the photo. i found a "fix" though if others have this issue, just quote the reply and there will be a link between the [img] [/ img], just copy that link into the browser and it should be good to go. perhaps this is also a well known fix here and i'm dumb lol

That horse is looking a bit like a red roan to me. I think TB Jockey Clubs don't recognize roan, but I wonder how the QH registry would identify him.

Genetic Testing Determines Foal’s Unique Color Caused By Novel MutationMylute wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 10:09 am Uniquely Colored Standardbred Filly Makes A Splash

Not even bred for color, but came out looking like Airdrie Apache.
This is crazier because basic white markings (star, stripe, socks) aren't even that common in standardbreds. They barely have gray.

"VGL then conducted genetic analysis using allele-specific PCR with products resolved on the Applied Biosystems 3730XL DNA Analyzer (Thermo Fisher Scientific), a custom-designed MassARRAY genotyping assay (Agena Bioscience), and Ion Torrent S5 amplicon sequencing (Thermo Fishier Scientific) to investigate known mutations. Ultimately, the Ion Torrent S5 amplicon sequencing experiment is what allowed for the discovery of the novel variant.
This is the third de novo white coat color variant identified in Standardbreds. VGL intends to track the generational lineage of the filly's novel coat color, should she be bred."

This is no suprise for anyone who follows genetics. She'll be assigned a new W variant number and will pass that along about 50% of the time, like the other W variants. There are over 30 documented KIT white spotting mutations now.brunanas wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 4:39 pmGenetic Testing Determines Foal’s Unique Color Caused By Novel MutationMylute wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 10:09 am Uniquely Colored Standardbred Filly Makes A Splash

Wow, he is beautiful.
There is a silver-grey Andalusian working as a pony at Los Al (yeah, he does stand out among the QHs & TBs) who has a silver tail, but very dark steel grey mane. He's a purty pony.

I love greys like that! So beautiful. I also like it when grays keep points darker gray for longer than the rest of their body.

It shows in his head, doesn't it? And the long neck and strong shoulder.

I have a super old model horse somewhere that looks like him too, but I would say bit more smokey gray brown.
UBS had a sire son that looked like this guy when he retired. Silver City, I think his name was.
Side note, we have an abbreviation UBS at home that I always read as "Unbridled's Song."
