Oooh, Contrail's book should be interesting! Will definitely be looking forward to seeing that one.tachyon wrote: ↑Fri Jun 03, 2022 8:43 pmI believe that Epiphaneia's 2022 book is even stronger!!mariasmon wrote: ↑Thu Jun 02, 2022 9:30 amI love Epiphaneia so much. How true.
It's really hard to tell who of the quartet got the best book in 2021 --- Kizuna, Lord Kanaloa, Epiphaneia and Duramente.
While Kizuna and Duramente covered many top foreign mares, Epiphaneia and Lord Kanaloa mainly got best Japanese mares.
Also, Bricks and Mortar, Saturnalia and Rey de Oro enjoyed stellar books, respectively.
It was not that he was given very top mares when he entered stud. He was covering good but relatively modest group of mares.
But he sired the 2020 Triple Tiara winner Daring Tact from his first crop and the 2021 Horse of the Year Efforia from his second crop.
In 2022 Contrail must have been given VERY strong book in his debut year at stud, too.
Japanese studbook will release 2022 mating info in Autumn.

colt out of 3yo filly(uh mare) Beautyatitsbest
Foal was born at Belterra. Foal's sire is unknown at this time as the owner put her in a field with newly gelded horses last year when she bucked shins, the vet said it was okay(?????). But he is going to have them DNA tested to find the sire.

Does the filly in question still have a future on the track? I'm assuming they're going to let her nurse her foal until appropriate weaning time, which would be October at least?Flanders wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 3:15 am

The article only said "Reed said Willoughby will send Beautyatitsbest back to him to go into training at the appropriate time." It could mean, they let her nurse the foal or if they will put the foal will a nurse mare.Gemini wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 5:34 pmDoes the filly in question still have a future on the track? Uhhh yeah I can't imagine that they would take the foal away from the mother. I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't ever go back to training.
Though fillies have had foals and then gone on to race before (a rarity ofc).
Was gonna suggest that Golden Text might be the dad (he's a gelding) but he's 1 year older than BAIB so would not have been one of the 2 year old boys.

Yeah I mean they may not. When Speak Compelling foaled, she was back racing like 3 months later. So it would definitely depend on the owner, which I could see going either way.Mylute wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 11:18 pm Uhhh yeah I can't imagine that they would take the foal away from the mother. I hope they give her the rest of the year off to be with the foal then bring her back next year. Wonder if this will be mentioned during the broadcast today. Does anyone have any pictures?Flanders wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 11:55 pmYeah I mean they may not. When Speak Compelling foaled, she was back racing like 3 months later. No equine snobbery here. Equine royalty, Waldlerche, (dam of Waldgeist & half sister to Masked Marvel) with her Frankel colt, happy to share her space with Sinead (foster mum to the Dubawi colt ex Shastye).

What do you call that color? She is approaching weaning age, so I assume it won't change significantly, am I right?

I'm pretty sure that's a combo of pollen and dirt on her legs.
