OK...this makes me crazy. A loose horse from the Oaks field has taken off and is running around and around, back and forth....and no one can catch her.
Because Japan does not use OUTRIDERS! Aghhhh!
As much as I love Japanese racing, not using outriders and their speedy ponies to catch a loose horse BEFORE it goes over/through a fence, or injures itself, makes NO SENSE.
Waiting until a horse finally stops due to exhaustion is just.......

Stars on Earth takes it. She reminds me of her grand dam, Stacelita.

Yeah I always thought JRA really should have outriders, too.

-- post-race comments:

Christophe Lemaire (jockey of Stars on Earth)

“I am really thrilled to have won in front of a big crowd today—it’s really not fun to win with an empty
stand so I appreciate all you fans for coming. The filly was in great condition coming into the race but it
requires a lot of effort to start from an outside draw, so I was easy with her in early. She stayed calm and
responded really well in the closing stages so I was happy. It was her first attempt at 2,400 meters but her
pedigree showed that she should be up in terms of stamina so I thought it shouldn’t be a problem. She’s
already won at 1,600 meters and shown to handle 2,400 meters, so I think she has a pretty good chance to
win her third G1 triple over 2,000 meters.''

''I'm so happy and relieved to have won the Oaks with her. I hadn't worried about the distance (2400m) as I knew about her family well. I rode Stacelita (her granddam) to win the French Oaks and Soul Stirring (her aunt) to win the Japanese Oaks. I'm also so glad to win the Japanese Oaks today with the Shadai Farm bred Stars on Earth, as I've been given great supports from Teruya Yoshida. From the extreme outside post which was unfavorable, I tried to move inside gradually to find our spot behind Keita Tosaki's horse (Presage Lift). I felt I had plenty of horse while she relaxed in a good rhythm. I kept an eye on Damian Lane’s horse (Stunning Rose) and Yuga Kawada's horse (Art House) in the final straight. Then my horse exercised a superb turn of foot. It's been a while I win a G1. Her potential is very high, maybe as high as Almond Eye. The 2000m (in the Shuka Sho, final leg of the Triple Crown for Fillies) will be the best fit for her.''

Stacelita is turning out to be quite the producer! A blue hen in the making?

I hope so! :D
She has been set to visit St Mark's Basilica this year.
I can't wait for her 2023 foal!!

And I believe that Duramente(JPN)(King Kamehameha), the sire of Stars on Earth, deserves a special mention, too.
The premature death of Duramente becomes more and more tragic as his offspring impress on the track. With the success of Titleholder and Stars on Earth from just his first two crops, he would have been a major force.

Kate Hunter is absolutely right. She is unbiased and definitely a great spokesperson the Japanese racing. :D 8-)
But I may have to add that Duramente is already a major force in the Japanese sire rankings only with his first two crops. ;)

-- sire ranking by the year 2022 --- Duramente is currently the 3rd
https://www.jbis.jp/ranking/result/?rid ... =1&item=20

-- sire ranking by the 2019 generation -- Duramente is currently the 1st !!!
https://www.jbis.jp/ranking/result/?rid ... &x=44&y=16

Fortunately, he left another three full crops to hit the track from this year.
I will not be surprised if he takes over the champion sire status next year.

Entrance fee is 200 yen (about $2 US) for Tokyo, Nakayama, Kyoto, Hanshin, and Chukyo Racecourses, and 100 yen (about $1 US) for Sapporo, Hakodate, Fukushima, Niigata, and Kokura Racecourses.
You will pay separately for food and drinks (at reasonable prices in my opinion).

Shadai Racehorse has just announced that Stars on Earth(JPN), the dual Classic winning filly, had a bone chip in the first phalange of her right front leg.
They still believe that the daughter of Duramente will be able to contest the Shuka Sho, the final leg of the Triple Tiara, in October.
