CC's first foal also gives him his first G1W as a damsire... how cool!

American Turf has lots of nicely bred horses.

Smokin T is out of Wine Princess (daughter of Azeri)
Red Run out of a half sister to Untapable
Red Danger’s third dam is dancinginmydreams
Royal Spirit’s second dam Caroni is dam of Mo Tom

Thoughts of June won the Cheshire Oaks. She’s by Galileo out of G1W Discreet Marq, who sold for $2.4M at FT November in 2014. Thoughts of June is Galileo’s 348th SW, setting a new record.

Gosh, I remember Discreet Marq! She was a wonderful NY bred turf mare out of the Patrucia Generazio program. Her only GI win came as a 3yo in the Del Mar Oaks, but she had many GI placings in races like the Matriarch (twice), Garden City, Diana, and Just A Game. Earned over $1.2M.

Sold to Moyglare Stud at FTK Nov 14 for $2.4M. I was a big fan of hers when she was running, but I had forgotten all about her! Really nice to see her doing well as a broodmare!!

She was a really pretty all-white grey, if I recall.

Discreet Marq sadly died in 2019. Thoughts of June was her last of 3 foals.

She is a broodmare for Moyglare Stud. She raced in 2021 so this is her first year as a broodmare. She was supposed to be bred to Starspangledbanner. If someone wants to go through they have all their breedings online here: https://www.moyglarestudbook.com/

Go to the Spring 2022 Book and you can flip through. Its very nice that they spend the time doing this for fans of their horses.

Strobe was impressive in his debut in the last race at CD yesterday: 6f in 1:08.71. He’s by Into Mischief out of MG1W Flashing (A.P. Indy).

Junior Senator , a Smarty Jones 1/2 brother of the late 3x Maryland Hunt Cup winner Senior Senator, won the maiden timber at Winterthur on Sunday. Tail female to Cosmah.

And on Saturday Waspirant (Union Rags x Life is Sweet) ran in a 12f NSA flat race on the Virginia Gold Cup undercard...and finished 11th of 12. I guess they want to try jumps with him now?
The lone horse finishing behind him was Tapwood (Tapit x Better Lucky).

The DRF article was confusing. :? Is the 4yo a colt or gelding?
If he's a gelding, he's a dead end for that 'nice' breeding.

this isn't "nice" news like the rest of this topic is, but i think it's something we should talk about and maybe together try to find a way to bring him home...

Runhappy's ½ brother by Curlin, Curlin's Vow, has ended up at Camarero, which as we know isn't... a nice place for horses to be. he is now 9 years old and has made 72 starts, currently racing for trainer Jorge Perez and owner Establo Quintana, but he is always in Claiming races so i guess that might not last long. his last start was for a $4k tag.

i have tried contacting Stonestreet — who now owns Bella Jolie — to see if perhaps there is anything they can do even though they're not "super" connected to the horse and they said they'd look into it but nothing has been done (this was many months ago).

i'm worried about him. he was exported in mid-2020 and has made 29 starts since.
i like plushies. a lot.

Maybe "Mattress Mac" McIngvale, Runhappy's owner, would be someone to contact. He might be sentimental about a Runhappy half-bro....and/or aware of what a great feel-good story it would be for him to be attached to. Good deed...and great publicity. ;)

From the Racing Post bloodstock email this morning:

The seven-furlong juvenile maiden at Leopardstown (5.10) is a similar affair, with only one of the nine runners having any form, and that’s the once-raced and well-beaten Our Boy Wes.

This promises to be a real humdinger for breeding buffs, as it features the debuts of two half-brothers to exceptional Classic-winning fillies.

Alfred Munnings, trained by Aidan O’Brien for Coolmore and Westerberg, is a Dubawi half-brother to the late, lamented wide-margin dual Oaks heroine Snowfall out of Best In The World, a Group 3-winning Galileo full-sister to brilliant racemare Found.

Simpson’s Paradox, meanwhile, is a Mastercraftsman full-brother to Alpha Centauri, whose four top-level 1 victories included the Irish 1,000 Guineas, and Discoveries, who struck in last season’s Moyglare Stud Stakes. He is also a half-brother Alpine Star, who took last season’s Coronation Stakes. Like his three Group 1-winning siblings, the descendant of the fabulous Miesque is trained by Jessica Harrington for the Niarchos family.

Alfred Munnings easy winner!
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.
