Winston Blue (3 year old colt) finished second in a 7F $123,200 MSW race at Woodbine today. Winning time was 121.86. The charts have it that Winston Blue finished 2nd by 1 1/2 lengths, but I watched the race at www.bloodhorse.com and Winston Blue was only about a half length behind at the finish of the race. It sure looked like that to me. That was race 8 at Woodbine.

I've got my eye on a 3 year old colt named Exxel. This is the type of horse that I would love to see succeed. He got his first win about 3 weeks ago at Tampa Bay Downs. Not a place that great thoroughbred horses generally come from, and he was bought for only $8,000. at the sales. I like the fact that his time was 1:03.96 for 5.5 furlongs. Not a bad time for an 8K colt.

This could go either way. I would love to see him progress into something special. The odds are against him, but if he improves off his winning effort, he should do well, IMHO. I saw his race on the Bloodhorse website, and I was impressed. Don't know how it will go for Exxel, but I will be watching.
