Dancinginthewoods was euthanized from complications due to kidney failure and colic. He was 22-years-old. He was lucky to have been in a safe place for the rest of his life; considering his race record.

Harris Farms seems to have an abnormal number of stallions having heart attacks in the shed, he's like, their 3rd one? Lucky Pulpit, Vronksy and now him. not wanting to point fingers or anything, but ya know...

Skakovik, a world racing news site based in Russia, has reported that Cup Maker (Empire Maker x Kalpita, by Spinning World) was euthanized today after colic surgery failed. Cup Maker ran his entire career in Russia and won the G1 Minister of Agriculture Stakes.

The 12 year old stallion has a few foals on the ground, including stakes winner Strike Maker.

Cap Maker was bred in the US by Brookdale Farm. He is a half to G1W California Memory and G3W Mouro.

This one hurts. I was a fan of MB as a racehorse, and also hoped he would be able to carry on the now-pensioned Tiznow's bloodline.
Frack. :(

I would presume Asmussen and his crew have plenty of experience in dealing with colic. The fact that the horse went downhill so 'rapidly,' and apparently before he could be taken to a clinic, makes me wonder if it was something else more acute...and fatal.

It's very unfortunate in multiple ways. Midnight Bourbon could've added a lot to the gene pool.
