Seeing the names like that, it’s even worse...it’s annoying how he puts zero effort into naming his horses. Honestly, I just can’t like him ....

At some point, he’s going to have to breed to different sires due to gross inbreeding possibilities ...and also, because maybe he’d have better luck. I feel sorry in a way for these mares - they’re not given real shots at success

Agree with the inbreeding issue.

He names his horses the way he does so he can look at the name and know the sire and dam. Annoying, maybe, but he's definitely stuck with his game plan.

Also I don't personally like that Mine's Perfect and Perfect Mine (Mineshaft - Perfect Forever, by Perfect Soul) went to Seeking the Soul (Perfect Soul - Seeking The Title, by Seeking The Gold) because of the 2x3 inbreeding.

I didn't think about that aspect of it, but you're right. It's closer on the inbreeding than I like to see, that's for sure.

When I look at his names, I think, "There's a man who made a plan and is fully committed to it."

Looks like Creme Caramel was sold as a yearling, so she got a normal name. When I check for names of his 2YOs each year, I can usually tell right off from just the name if it's one he sold. Essentially, if the horse was given a good or normal name, he no longer owns it. He sent some 2YOs to Dubai, though, and they didn't get named at the same time he named the ones who stayed in North America, so that threw me a bit.

It also seems that he tends to keep the offspring of certain mares, as he's hung onto everything from Lemons Forever, Unbridled Forever and Forever Unbridled. Perfect Forever has gone through the ring 3 times and RNAd each time, so he must not want to sell her that badly. But he's sold some of her offspring. He does have her 2 Mineshaft daughers (Mine's Perfect and Perfect Mine ), both of whom visited Seeking the Soul last year.

I don't get why he never tried Lemons Forever with another Unbridled line stallion. She clearly did well with UBS, as that is her only 2 foals that are really of note. Forever d'Oro finished 3rd in a stakes at 3 but nothing else of note. She hasn't crossed well with the Sadler's Wells line, its been done the majority of her breeding career.

For the Mineshaft mares, I like Absolution, Lost Lemon Mine (a “real” Canadian legend), Lost Dutchman Mine (another legend - Arizona), ...but I’m sure we’ll get Forever Mine, Mine Forever, Shaft Soul, Seeking Shaft, etc..

I don't know if Seeking Shaft would get an okay from the Jockey Club.
