Pepper's Pride was a bust as a broodmare. Should have gelded this guyMylute wrote: ↑Sun Mar 06, 2022 11:05 pm So it looks like the third American Pharoah to stud in North America is also the third unraced.
American Pepper (o/o Pepper's Pride, by Desert God) will enter stud privately at Doubletree Farms in New Mexico. His dam Pepper's Pride of course was undefeated in 19 races - 12 stakes - in New Mexico.

Awww darn it! I really liked that guy! Bless his heart! Isn't he one of the last survivors of the Ribot sireline? I'm sure he still has some sons out there, but I don't think he ever got anything of real note as a sire. No Biz Like Show Biz?ForTheThrill wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 5:52 pm Go For Gin gone.

So, who inherits the mantle of the oldest Derby winner? I haven't heard anything about Grindstone in a few years now. Is he still alive, or does Silver Charm move into the spotlight?

Grindstone was pensioned in either 2018 after the breeding season or before the 2019 breeding season, he is in Oregon.Missbeholder wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 8:02 pmAwww darn it! Claiborne did a live stream I missed and just found. The camera quality is kind of bad but it's still worth a watch. Algorithms is cute and I thought it was interesting that Ironicus was apparently kept in Mr. Prospector's stall. Of course neither of these boys are there anymore.

Kayrawan, Intidab, Dumaani and Swain have been pensioned for years. They're all +/- 30 years old. Shitty thing for Shadwell to do to them at this stage...JMHO.

They were all pensioners already, some for a very long time. I wonder if they were at one of the farms that Shadwell is selling or if because they are selling those farms, they needed to consolidate horses and didn't want to bother with having retired stallions around anymore. I'm not happy about it and I feel bad for the older ones who have lived at the farm since they retired.

Not just your opinion, I agree whole heartedly with you. Feel really bad for those guys. I typed pretty much the same reaction as you, while you were replying but wanted to post it. Honestly I didn't even realize some of these guys were still alive.

I'm guessing that Shadwell was hemorrhaging money under Sheikh Hamdan and he didn't care. His offspring are probably trying to shore things up, but this isn't a good look. Albertus Maximus is 18 and Mustanfar is 21 (contrary to the press release, which said he was 29), so they'll probably settle in and do fine. The other 4 are so old. I hate it for them.Flanders wrote: ↑Wed Mar 23, 2022 1:41 pmNot just your opinion, I agree whole heartedly with you. Feel really bad for those guys.
