Why would it not be? There's tons of dilute TBs out there and they did foray into colour breeding standing one of the frame line stallions (Risque Remarque)

Sometimes quarter horses can look more like thoroughbreds (especially the racing ones). Maybe he could be a teaser?

Well you'd think when they have hundreds of horses they wouldn't want to show off their weird foray into breeding for color. Cause it is weird for a farm with that history to start breeding nicely bred mares to color stallions for the hell of it.Retrospectiv wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 1:16 pmWhy would it not be? Why is it weird? A farm can produce race horses, and pleasure/show horses on the side if they wish. They're still all registered TBs. And just because the name is Calumet, there's no relation of the current owner to the past history. No one is even sure if Risque Remarque is still there so not sure why you'd be upset about what they may or not be breeding to him. I can't imagine anyone being so upset by seeing one palomino in a barn.Flanders wrote: ↑Sat Feb 12, 2022 12:50 amWell you'd think when they have hundreds of horses they wouldn't want to show off their weird foray into breeding for color. I'm not upset. But that is the thing, they weren't breeding him to make sporthorses. They were breeding him to try and make colorful racehorses. If they were trying to breed sporthorses I'd be okay with it. I hate when people breed horses just to get color.Retrospectiv wrote: ↑Sat Feb 12, 2022 5:36 amWhy is it weird? So what if he was trying to produce some overo TB race horses. His mares, his stallion. As long as they're not backyard trainwrecks, I don't have an issue breeding additionally for colour. And like it or not, most coloured TBs have a better chance attracting a home for pleasure or sport after their racing career. He wasn't breeding hundreds of coloured foals, and then dumping them in the sales so as a side hobby, power to him.Flanders wrote: ↑Sat Feb 12, 2022 7:31 amI'm not upset. I found this picture of Liam's Map who's grey coat is quite similar to this girl's. I was at first thinking that Unbridled's Song had a coat color like it (before he turned white), but I was apparently thinking of his son, Liam's Map.Mylute wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 3:34 pm Speightstown Gal (Cairo Prince) is a very unique gray.

I don't know when this picture was taken, so Liam's Map might be considerably lighter now.

She's not too unique. I've seen plenty of greys that dapple out that way - one of my favorite horses to ride looked like that when he was younger. She's young - as she ages, she'll grey out in the same way as her sire.Mylute wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 3:34 pm Speightstown Gal (Cairo Prince) is a very unique gray.

Risque Remarque apparently had moved to a sporthorse farm a few years (?) ago and it seems like he died last year.Retrospectiv wrote: ↑Sat Feb 12, 2022 5:36 amWhy is it weird? Her studbook page has now been updated. She missed for her 2021 foal and was bred to Circus Maximus for a 2022 foal
Ask me any questions you have about New Zealand and Australia racing

I'm on a FB page for some of the coloured TBs, and what's funny is none of them seem to know where he, even those with offspring by him. I've seen no death report any where for him.brunanas wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 2:12 amRisque Remarque apparently had moved to a sporthorse farm a few years (?) ago and it seems like he died last year.Retrospectiv wrote: ↑Sat Feb 12, 2022 5:36 amWhy is it weird? The Inverted Y is who posted on Facebook that he died of an an aneurysm in 2021. They own quite a few foals by him and Calumet even let them breed to him while he was standing in Kentucky.Retrospectiv wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 1:30 pmI'm on a FB page for some of the coloured TBs, and what's funny is none of them seem to know where he, even those with offspring by him. Ya, that one's a ding bat and typical 'color breeder'. Loves to make claims about the genetics of her horses that are not true and blocks anyone who tries to explain anything to herFlanders wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 3:45 pmThe Inverted Y is who posted on Facebook that he died of an an aneurysm in 2021. I'm sorry if it's true Risque Remarque has died (or that he ended up with a 'dingbat' owner ). Maybe he wasn't a racehorse, but he was a handsome stallion. IIRC, he had the more 'uphill' build that fits sport horse use better than racing.
