There is something called Equine Metabolic Syndrome which can cause a horse to exhibit similar symptoms but as it has been explained to me, is different in terms of causation to Cushing’s. My vet and I have suspected that Border Run has had Cushing’s for a few years now. We tend to be simplistic about it and be aware and treat symptoms as they arise. As long as he acts happy and wants to eat, we just take it as part of the package.

i wonder what happened... was it something that happened in the breeding shed? or by "at stud" they're just meaning "in retirement"?Mylute wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 5:13 pm Dual Grade 1 winner and star sire Gemix dies at 14 after accident at stud

the article mentioned spinal injuries my first thought was a paddock accident, and i was guessing they meant in retirement. never crossed my mind but you're definitely not wrong, that could easily have been a breeding shed accident.brunanas wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 11:02 pmi wonder what happened... was it something that happened in the breeding shed? or by "at stud" they're just meaning "in retirement"?Mylute wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 5:13 pm Dual Grade 1 winner and star sire Gemix dies at 14 after accident at stud

At the very least, it makes horses susceptible to laminitis. I wondered if that was the issue.sweettalk wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 12:03 amcan someone more knowledgeable than me explain what this means? ty in advance.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 3:48 pm Multiple graded stakes winner Saratoga Snacks, a fan favorite in his home state of New York, has been euthanized at ReRun due to metabolic issues, New York Thoroughbred Breeders reported Feb. 22.
