I was such a Lani fan. He had such beautiful breeding, just having him here was such an......adventure. That studish behavior, and such a bad boy. I wil never forget Maruuchi saying of his relationship with Lani, “He is the king, and I am the servant.”

I crack up every time I think about him saying that.

Would his progeny be over in the breeding topic ?

(when I find myself gushing like this, I realize how very fortunate I am that horse racing "found" me. ) I think?

It looks like Lani feels much calmer than before, haha!

He has sired three JRA winners to date including a turf winner.

Much calmer.......well, I guess for HIM. Looks like an exhausting job dealing with him all day to me  I think one must still assume servant status around him
I used to work at a wildlife rehab and the baby deer would always try to eat my clothing like he did in that video

I can't even think of Lani without recalling this tweet with the bad Japanese to English translation: https://twitter.com/annaseitzft/status/ ... 2387373056

"Angry Lani bounced back in buttocks situation."

Good timing, cuz right now I'm watching the Hong Kong races, and of course, LOVES ONLY YOU is in the Hong Kong Cup about an hour from now.

I saw STAY FOOLISH his other horse in Race 4 (didn't hit)

I like her, DUBAI HONOUR , Lei Papali, and HISHI IGUAZU

They're not giving many updates on the horses, but I'm pretty sure at least 2 were fatally injured. Sounds like the jockeys involved are at least conscious/speaking. I don't think I've seen a worse spill.

I don't recommend watching the replay, but Danon Smash somehow avoided being part of the carnage by turning into a steeplechaser. Thank goodness he is okay.

Update: Zac Purton, Yuichi Fukunaga and Lyle Hewitson are out for the rest of the card, but no news on their injuries.

Update 2: Amazing Star, whose breakdown caused the whole incident, was euthanized. Naboo Attack is being evaluated, but it sounded grim.

I'm pretty sure it was the worst spill I've seen. Just hoping none of the jockeys have terribly serious injuries.

Just read Silk Racing confirmed Pixie Knight is okay after being involved in the spill. He appeared to hop right up after he fell, so I was hopeful for him.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club have just released a statement to media

Club statement

The Hong Kong Jockey Club confirms that jockeys Yuichi Fukunaga, Lyle Hewitson and Zac Purton who were dislodged during the LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint are conscious and have been sent to hospital for further medical assessment.

Further update will be provided in due course.

Given the accident and the developing circumstances, the decision was made that the trophy presentation of that race and the remaining HKIR races should be scaled down, including not playing national anthems.

I don't know how these guys just get back up and ride after being in a race like that. I'd have to take a week off or more. Jockey are such incredible athletes.

I can’t think of a worse one, let alone a worse one in that level of racing. Very glad to hear all jockeys are conscious, that’s kind of a miracle given the way it happened.

Looks like Naboo Attack is a confirmed fatality as well
