Nope didn't even know they removed him from the Coolmore page. They had listed a 2022 stud fee for him, so it must have been a very recent sale. He doesn't have an open export at this time. But doesn't surprise me he was sold, he only got 35 mares in 2021.

Re: Uncle Chuck
Y'all glass half empty on him. His dam did make 18 starts, and 5 of 6 of her foals 3yo and over did made it to the track, including one with 27 starts. He's a big leggy horse who ended up with Baffert.

Yeah and her foals are unsound. Sure the gelding has 34 starts but he had 5 starts before age 5, with massive breaks between the first and 2nd start (8 months) and 2nd and 3rd start(6 months). He then managed 3 starts pretty quickly and needed an additional nearly 6 months to make another start. That is unsound. Maybe his issues are figured out now but doesn't change the fact he was unsound through the beginning of his career.Timely Writer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 6:24 pm Re: Uncle Chuck

Being with Baffert has nothing to do with Uncle Chuck being unsound. That's like saying it was Steve Asmussen's fault MacLean's Music made one start or it was Chad Brown's fault that Electric Forest raced 5 times. Its not any of their fault, its that the mare produces unsound foals. And sure they are sound enough to make it to the races but they aren't going to stay sound for very long, none of them have. Maybe they just need a lot of time but they aren't going to get it. The only one that did is the gelding and they aren't many left to race, her 2yo has started working out 3 different times and stopped on and she has a weanling filly. The mare died earlier this year.

Good breeding, nice looking horse. But the last thing American racing needs is more unsound influence. Hopefully he proves me wrong and produces sound foals but it's not a good point in racing when studs with 5 or fewer starts due to unsoundness are regularly retired to stand because they have in-demand families or sires

None of that changes the fact that her foals are unsound. Breeders don't care, if they did, they wouldn't breed to most of the stallions that they breed to.Timely Writer wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 8:56 pmAw, just think you would have missed out on all those $50,000 stud fees on Macleans Music had you owned him...right?Flanders wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 7:04 pmYeah and her foals are unsound. funny as i just brought this up to my dad re: Danzig. 3 starts, retired unsound... huuuge impact in the shed. however, he's an outlier. the odds of someone having a Danzig on their hands is slim, on the absolute best of days.
otherwise, both of zenyatta's sons would be in the shed and as big of a Z fan as i am (i even have a tattoo) i think gelding/retraining them was the right call.

I just think what I'm trying to say is coming across wrong. I wasn't one of the people condemning the fact that Uncle Chuck was going to stud, of course he is going to stud, the owners would be fools to not send him to stud given who his 1/2 brother is. I was just backing up the people that said Forest Music's foals were unsound, which they were.sweettalk wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 2:27 amhardcore on your side.Flanders wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 12:32 amNone of that changes the fact that her foals are unsound. There have been tons of horses that have gone to stud that their soundness could be highly questioned but if they were never given a chance then the thoroughbred world would look a lot different. Danzig was given a chance because he was so brilliant, he did have knee issues though and he did pass that on sometimes. Can you image the forum if a Kentucky farm advertised a new stallion that was undefeated in 3 starts, highest being an allowance win and starting out at $60,000 stud fee(2021 equivalent for the 20k Danzig started out at in 1981)? Ahhh that would be good times.
