I asked earlier who we thought would be given the Sprinter Eclipses. What do we think? This division is always either a toss-up or a lock for X horse, it seems.
I think the two who'll end up with the most votes will be Jackie's Warrior and Dr. Schivel. Aloha West will get votes just by virtue of having won the BC Sprint.
I ask because Jackie's Warrior, while he has more wins overall, has 1 G1W, and more losses overall, though he made more starts than DS. Dr. Schivel also has 1 G1 and finished second by the slimmest of margins in the BC Sprint while Jackie's Warrior faded badly. Also, Dr. Schivel defeated older males twice in both of his GSWs while JW raced exclusively against 3yos aside from the BC.

This was a good thread, thanks for participating with 25 pages here and another 5 pages in the Picks and Prayers. Most everybody took their swings and shrugged off their misses with class making it fun for everybody, hopefully a few found the cashiers line.
And then......along comes a poster who thought it necessary to remind us how crooked the game is and how stupid we are for contributing to it. She went on to tell us unnecessary personal stuff about her husband and her wedding, guess what....nobody cares, its the Breeders Cup day for chrissakes.
Maybe we can make a trade and get the "good read" Curtis back in exchange for her, I hope she doesn't let the door hit her on the way out.

Having an emotional meltdown every time someone says something that isn’t 100% positive about the industry is an extremely good way to get people back into the sport and reduce negativity, lol.
I can see an argument for Dr. Schivel. Given the award’s history, I wouldn’t be shocked if it just goes to Aloha West though.
What about Turf Male? Domestic Spending, Yibir, Golden Pal? Turf Female goes to War Like Goddess, I hope.

Domestic Spending had a really good year, too bad about missing the big day. I think him or Yibir. Golden Pal could be the Sprint category winner!Tessablue wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 12:59 pm Having an emotional meltdown every time someone says something that isn’t 100% positive about the industry is an extremely good way to get people back into the sport and reduce negativity, lol.

This country and the horse racing industry should realize that they both desperately need a broader view and analysis of what is happening and why, but what we have are little people who can't see past their own front yard who keep electing small-minded people ( on both sides of the political spectrum) to at least try to control incredibly complicated problems, and then are surprised when they can't get past "what's in it for me." Neither political administrations nor horse racing industry in the here and now exist in a vacuum. Every choice and problem they face exists because of choices made by their antecedents and, in turn, their choices will affect those following. Assuming there was ever a "simpler time" where the world was "safe" is an asinine view to take in both the horse racing sphere and with humanity in general. For one, there has always been drugs and cheats in racing and the industry and its outward glamorous face has never really cared about that fact or the people or the horses who have suffered from it as long as their bubble wasn't breached. For the other, well, whatever golden-hued world your memory holds never actually existed for you and certainly not for others, and trying to return to it will not have the outcome anyone seems to expect. Open any history book and the one things stands out- civilizations either move forward and adapt to change or they become history.Private Thoughts wrote: ↑Sun Nov 07, 2021 7:56 am
I looked at both links, what's the big deal? How is any of it "white supremacist or skinhead" related? Good grief. People are allowed to voice their opinions, when was that a problem? Debate is healthy for society, we can agree to disagree without being ugly. And everyone is entitled to their opinions, and they don't have to fall in line with the "woke folks". And she is 100% spot on with the supply chain issues. I deal with this on a daily basis. Life is going to get really crappy here in the coming months due to the feckless administration in DC. But at least they don't "mean tweet". I'll take the mean tweets, at least gas was 1.85/gallon on Trump's last day, there was stuff in the stores, food in the grocery, and the world was safe. And NO marines had died in Afghanistan. I could get a truck driving less than 100 miles to deliver for about $150, now it's more like $450. Insanity. Let's go Brandon.

An even bigger question is champion turf male. Is it still Domestic Spending?

Can anyone confirm that the assistant starter who was injured during the breeders cup races has died? That's the word that seems to be floating around but it hasn't been confirmed by either del Mar or the breeders cup organization which seems very odd...you'd think they'd release a statement

What!? I heard one of the TVG hosts (maybe Sarge on Monday?) pass along information that he was going to be OK. Gave out his name, said he was bruised but, IIRC, nothing broken.
I would wait for something more official before I'd assume he has actually died.

TVG had a tweet saying the man, Carl Wood, was doing ok on the 7th, but that is all I found.TapitsGal wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 10:45 pm Can anyone confirm that the assistant starter who was injured during the breeders cup races has died?
