Have I missed something this year? I have been so busy at work and planning a wedding I haven't had much free time. This horse does not seem liked.
Horsr ran well. Rosario went fast, slowed it down then turned on the burners.
Overall the track seemed to play pretty fair.

I don't have a problem with him. I just didn't think he was going to be able to run that fast at a mile and a quarter. I was wrong.Modern Renaissance wrote: ↑Sat Nov 06, 2021 8:46 pm Have I missed something this year? I have been so busy at work and planning a wedding I haven't had much free time. 1. people don't like Brad Cox
2. people don't like it when jocks get scared so badly they let a horse go gate to wire every single time

For a second I thought Hot Rod Charlie was going to run past him. Damn. Guess this race was the opposite of the Distaff. Great race by Knicks Go, I still think someone should have gone iwth him for the lead, what were they thinking?

Did you see the segment before the race about Cox + this horse's "meteoric rise?" That's the main thing, along with fatigue for unchallenged pace winners. This guy did just kinda blitz them today, so it's not the least satisfying win of the year, but it's been a theme.Modern Renaissance wrote: ↑Sat Nov 06, 2021 8:46 pm Have I missed something this year? Maybe nobody could. He came out of that gate like a lion, had two lengths on them immediately and ran around there like he meant business.
I love his tail.

I mean, I get it, but what would be better? Watching the pinnacle of the caste system win?Tessablue wrote: ↑Sat Nov 06, 2021 8:50 pmDid you see the segment before the race about Cox + this horse's "meteoric rise?" It's a deeply corrupt sport and there is not much positive to root for. My disengaged year has led me to think that we're all guilt for supporting it.

Happy for a clean, well scrutinized Medina Spirit to run as well as he did. Never in his preferred position on the lead, had every right to toss in the towel but was only one horse away from the $6million, congrats.
I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

Remember the Steve Asmussen quote I posted about how everyone overreacts ? It’s like he knew, lol…

It'll be Essential Quality, I'm sure.Tessablue wrote: ↑Sat Nov 06, 2021 8:50 pmDid you see the segment before the race about Cox + this horse's "meteoric rise?" Not the worst outcome, I agree, and it feels like a long way back to big horses who felt like they were owned and raced by real people (like California Chrome). But I think this guy's very stark form reversal is still on a lot of minds, and we were all kinda hankering for an upset after the earlier races.Modern Renaissance wrote: ↑Sat Nov 06, 2021 8:54 pm I mean, I get it, but what would be better? I wonder if they run Essential Quality back to try and solidify champion 3yo? I think he gets it either way (two G1 wins to Medina Spirit's probable 1, he had a tougher trip in both of his losses to that horse, and general sentiment), but do they attempt something like the Clark?

Essential Quality, easily.
Can't say I disagree, at least as far as the almighty dollar is concerned. Haven't placed a single wager since the Derby, and I capped out Aloha West, Yibir, and Loves Only You, but can't bring myself to bet anymore.Modern Renaissance wrote: ↑Sat Nov 06, 2021 8:54 pm It's a deeply corrupt sport and there is not much positive to root for. Congrats to @bradcoxracing and the connections of Knicks Go, who was brilliant in victory today and got very close (1:59.57) to the @DelMarRacing
track record of 1:59.11 set by Candy Ride in the 2003 Pacific Classic.

Really, really don't see Medina Spirit beating Essential Quality for it. Maybe if his Derby win wasn't so dubious...Tessablue wrote: ↑Sat Nov 06, 2021 8:50 pmDid you see the segment before the race about Cox + this horse's "meteoric rise?"
