If you're worried you missed anything, just rewatch the last hour or so of the broadcast. Pretty much sums it all up.

To be fair we don't know who is at fault yet, some outlets posted him as a scratch but they didn't treat him as a scratch on the track. It may be a problem that doesn't have anything to do with the Breeders' Cup organization (or it could be completely their fault).

I feel like the hot mic, f-bomb before the race was perfect because that is what the Breeders Cup is saying now.

I'm not sure that anybody truly knows what happened yet, but I believe they said it was a miscommunication between the vets and BC officials. Think we'll ever know the true story?

Let nothing take away from the fact that Modern Games is really good, though. Has to have a good head on his shoulders to come back after all of that.

Racing really does take you from the low to the high. Wonder why they said he was scratched to begin with?

Too bad horses don't have a voice like some outspoken wide receiver or quarterback. Maybe things would change instead of the status quo aka rich people being kept by check by other rich people.

I thought the exact same thing! Thoroughbreds in general can be basket cases... after all the chaos, Modern Games made that look easy.

Hard-hitting reporting from the interviewer who didn't press at all on what happened and seemed content with the explanation of "there was a little bit of confusion." So embarrassing.

Bafferts narcissism shines through again “I welcome everything,” Baffert told NBCSN in the winner’s circle. “I want people to know Bob Baffert is a good trainer and takes care of his horses. … I just keep focused, don’t listen to the clutter.” gee bob why not just let the owners and the horse savor the moment without dragging your controversy into it...but it sounds like the owner is indirectly saying corniche is going to switch barns soon

What the heck did I just watch?! That was nuts.

Glad horse’s are ok. Hope starter is too.

I’m trying to explain all this to my non-racing fan husband and he’s looking at me like I’ve lost my mind. What’s gonna happen tomorrow?

The jockey seemed to indicate in the brief post-race interview that the confusion may have been with the gate. The gate crew member with him manually opened the gate so that Modern Games could get away from the horse next to him, but possibly other people thought he broke though, which may be an automatic scratch.

Think how it happened is going to be the big question that needs to be answered. I understand they don't do stewards reports there so If the California stewards have any sense they will release a statement explaining it and how they will make sure it doesn't happen again
Ask me any questions you have about New Zealand and Australia racing

Yep- basically the owner intimated Corniche will to to another trainer. I think Bob expects it.

They posted a picture of the steward rules on Twinspires before they went off for the day.

Essentially it said, if a horse is erroneously removed from wagering due to no fault of the owner or trainer, that the horse will be allowed to run for purse money only.

And that once a horse is removed from wagering its not allowed to be added back to wagering in the state.

Edit to add : I was on the phone so the wording may be slightly wrong but I think that is what it said.
