The rise of Sunday Silence

Hi Tachyon, I finally found this board after losing the connection to the old one. Just wanted to tell you that California Chrome has some very nice-looking weanlings out of really nicely bred mares. There is a beautiful colt out of a mare by Neo Universe. Several are out of mares by Deep Impact and other Sunday Silence-line mares.
In the meantime, Chrome has made friends with all the Arrow Stud barn cats.

Tachyon, here is the lovely weanling colt by Chrome out of Daiwa Dresser by Neo Universe. The first two generations of the female line are Shadai Farm breeding, but it goes back in the 5th generation to a mare named Sweet Tooth, who was the dam of the great Alydar.tachyon wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 10:03 amWell comeback to the forum, Ridan!Ridan_Remembered wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 5:15 pm Hi Tachyon, I finally found this board after losing the connection to the old one. This colt is by Chrome out of Heavenly Wind by Daiwa Major. The direct third dam is the famous Wind in Her Hair, dam of the great Deep Impact. I am so delighted at the quality of mares being sent to Chrome in Japan. I will try to find some of the other weanlings we've seen photos of courtesy of folks in Japan who share photos with us on Facebook.

He does stamp many of them. Of the 266 named foals for Chrome in Pedigree Query, 143 are chestnuts (54%). Although chestnut is my favorite equine coat color, I'm hoping we see at least one or two nice black Chrome foals one day. That would be Sunday coming through.

Color is not stamping, chestnut is literally the only color gene he can give. If the mare doesn't give the chestnut gene as well then the foal can't be chestnut.Ridan_Remembered wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 12:22 pmHe does stamp many of them. When I made the list in the Report of Mares bred thread I almost said something about Yoshida because this is what his 2nd year? The drop is worrisome to me because I thought breeders liked him when he got almost 150 his first year.tachyon wrote: ↑Thu Oct 28, 2021 7:32 am -- numbers of mares bred by Sunday Silence-line stallions in North America 2021

His stud fee has been declining, too.
-- Yoshida's stud fee & number of mares covered history:
2020: US$20,000 -- 148 mares
2021: US$15,000 -- 84 mares
2022: US$12,500
Obviously Yoshida is not a very popular stallion.
But I know the reasons why breeders in the US become skeptical about this grandson of Sunday Silence.
It's been understood from the beginning that Yoshida is a type of stallion who can only prove his quality with his babies' real performances at the track especially on the dirt.
I just hope that WinStar will not let him go at least until his first crop's sophomore season.
Then we will see.

Burgas(TUR)(C3. King David / Hat Trick) captured his 3rd local- G1 title in the Cumhurbaşkanlığı Koşusu (TUR-G1) 2400m turf at Ankara on Oct 30th 2021.
I now suspect that the grandson of Hat Trick(JPN) will become a stallion when he retires from racing, while making King David(USA) a major stallion in Turkey.
He is a very good horse!!

A lot of people bemoan the fact that stallions get sent to Turkey, but I'd rather these good bloodlines are allowed to flourish where they're appreciated. What's the point of staying in the U.S. if a stallion gets relegated to covering 8 mares a year in Wyoming?

Marche Lorraine(JPN), 2016M. Orfevre(JPN) x Vite Marcher(JPN) by French Deputy(USA), scored her first G1 title by a nose under superb Oisin Murphy in the G1 Breeders Cup Distaff 9F dirt at Del Mar on Nov 7th 2021.
Her race record is now 21-9-2-2.
That’s the first time the Triple Crown winner Orfevre (by Stay Gold) sired his group winner outside of Japan.
