City of Light's fee was bumped to $60,000. Considering his first crop hasn't hit the track yet, I think I would rather take my chances on Twirling Candy (fee is also $60,000) or Candy Ride (fee is $75,000).
His yearlings sold well, look like running freaks, so I guess they are going with that.
They're obviously going off of his results in the yearling sales. I would still put my money on a proven sire.

I agree. The funny thing is, if they are going by sales results, why didn’t they drop Honor Code? I’m glad they left HAP at $15,000 - I really think he’s going to do well.

I expected Maxfield to retire because he's older but I was hoping that they'd keep essential quality running on another year

Because Honor Code hasn't had a bad 2021. Sale results are literally the only way to gauge City of Light's offspring rn, and people really like them.

Goldencents tops the list of mares bred at 230. Authentic bred 229 mares. Uncle Mo bred 257 mares last year and 189 this year. Six of the top ten are spendthrift stallions, coolmore had two on the list and hill n Dale and Gainesway had one stallion each..only 47 stallions bred 140 mares in 2021. The 2022 foal crop is set to be the smallest since 1965

Good point...might as well strike while the iron is hot; if they don’t perform, they’d drop his stud fee anyway...

Tachyon, the people at Arrow Stud must be very pleased with another of their stallions, California Chrome, because their reason for buying him appears to be spot on. Chrome is turning out to be a good sire of turf horses. Here is a photo of his latest stakes winner on turf. This is a colt named Incredible, bred and owned by Haras Sumaya, which stood Chrome in Chile for two seasons. Incredible is out of Aya Oshkosh by Morning Raider (Giant's Causeway son). He is shown winning the Sunday National Classic. (Sorry for the large size of the photo. I don't know how to resize photos in BBcode.)

Wild to me that Army Mule gets to go to Kentucky but horses like Firenze Fire get shipped overseas.

You can't say "well FF's pedigree isn't commercial" because of Army Mule

I'm guessing it has everything to do with the stallion's owner. Does the owner want money fast, or is the owner willing to have several years of patience needed to develop his stallion. It really is about commerce these days and not about pedigrees, racing records and the overall quality of the horse. At least that's how it seems. Look at the situation with Take Charge Indy, for example. He has an elite pedigree, is certainly not a bad-looking horse, and he had a good racing record.

The owner said in the article that he got offers from all over, including Kentucky but he went with the biggest money offered so he goes to Japan.

~ A bit unexpected.
JBBA has just announced 2022 stud fees today.
Mischevious Alex(USA) will stand for a fee of JPY1,200,000- (about US$10,500-)

Order of Australia has been retired to stud.
Speaking during a teleconference with reporters Wednesday, O'Brien indicated the colt would be retired, saying, "He'll go off to stud now.
OBS
"He had a small fracture, and he just had to get a pin put in this morning," he noted. "But the operation, everything went well."

Completely missed that Van Gogh was going there, but not surprised.

They didn’t specify if he would be going to Coolmore or not. Obviously his dam side is stellar, but Australia isn’t the most alluring sire out there, and the one G1 win doesn’t always guarantee a stall at Coolmore.

Bayern now has an export on file with the Jockey Club, I just don't know where he went.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is Turkey or South Korea.
