Apparently, Chrome's daughter Cal Fragrance won a "semi-group" race on the NAR circuit just recently. Is this the equivalent of an overnight stakes race, tachyon?

That's another good question. Very difficult to answer, haha!
Japanese racing system is different from North American's and it's impossible to find the right translation.
And there is no guidebook that can tell us the race level of the NAR racing in comparison with the JRA racing even in Japanese.
So my answer would be then that the race Cal Fragrance won Oct 14th at Kawasaki Racecourse (NAR) was something like ''overnight stakes race in the US racing'' run at the NAR circuit that is different from the JRA circuit.
But I think I can give you some idea about the level (quality) of the race she won.
The purse money may not tell a lie.
Cal Fragrance earned JPY5,000,000 (= about US$43,500) by winning that race.

In the meantime, I've noticed that this filly is owned by Kazuko Yoshida, the spouse of Zenya Yoshida.
It's possible that Cal Fragrance will be a broodmare at the Shadai Group when she retires from racing.

Akaitorino Musume!!! Fantastic pedigree, she deserved the win

So Sodashi is really a miler, eh? Their next option is the Mile Championship or trying the dirt in the Champion Cup.

Sadly Uberleben ran like crap..
:? I hope she's okay. But after all she's a Gold Ship so maybe she wasn't in the mood

I haven't heard their connections' comments, yet.
But I have a gut feel that Sodashi is now done for this year and that Uberleben would run next in the QE2 Cup next month.
Akaitorino Musume should be headed to either the Japan Cup or the QE2 Cup.

Sodashi's trainer Naosuke Sugai has just said; ''Sodashi was bleeding in her mouth when she returned to me. I think she had her teeth broken by hitting in the gate. That might be why she didn't run well today...''

Is the "Heroes of the Past" gallery the same as or similar to the US Thoroughbred Hall of Fame?

No, it isn't.
JRA selects remarkable horses and makes photo-posters and display them to the Hero Retsuden gallery.
Only very popular horses, who basically have won three G1 races or more, seem to be added, even if JRA doesn't disclose their selection process.

But JRA does have the Hall of Fame in Japan, quite similar to the Hall of Fame in the US, to honor the achievements of race horses, jockeys and trainers in Japan.
The inductees are exhibited in ''Memorial Hall of Fame Gallery'' at JRA Racing Museum.
JRA Racing Museum is located in Tokyo Racecourse.
Here below is the link to JRA Racing Museum.

https://www.bajibunka.jrao.ne.jp/en/jra ... useum.html

34 horses have been inducted into the Hall of Fame in Japan to date.
Recent inductees (and year inducted) include;

Kitasan Black(JPN) (2020) (Black Tide)
Lord Kanaloa(JPN) (2018) (King Kamehameha)
Gentildonna(JPN) (2016) (Deep Impact)
Orfevre(JPN) (2015) (Stay Gold)
El Condor Pasa(USA) (2014) (Kingmambo)
Vodka(JPN) (2011) (Tanino Gimlet)
Deep Impact(JPN) (2008) (Sunday Silence)
T.M. Opera O(JPN) (2004) (Opera House)
Taiki Shuttle(USA) (1999) (Devil's Bag)
Narita Brian(JPN) (1997) (Brian's Time)
Tokai Teio(JPN) (1995) (Symboli Rudolf)
Mejiro McQueen(JPN) (1994) (Mejiro Titan)
Oguri Cap(JPN) (1991) (Dancing Cap)

Almond Eye is likely to be the next inductee.

Wikipedia may be helpful, too.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan_Rac ... ll_of_Fame

And JRA (Japanese ) website has a page of the inductees below.(all in Japanese...)

Thanks for that wonderful information, Tachyon. Now I'm off to look at the links you provided. Sunday Silence is, of course, a member of the U.S. Hall of Fame. :D

Titleholder(JPN), 2016C. Duramente(JPN) x Mowen(GB) by Motivator(GB), captured his first G1 victory wire-to-wire under Takeshi Yokoyama in the the G1 Kikuka Sho (Japanese St Leger), the final leg of the Japanese Triple Crown, 3000m turf at Hanshin on Oct 24th 2021.
That was also the first G1 title for his sire Duramente who had passed away recently.

I obviously missed it but what happened to these 2? I haven't heard about them at all since the spring.

Both Daring Tact and Contrail have been unfortunate and winless since their 2020 Triple Crown victories, respectively.

Daring Tact developed suspensory desmitis in her right front leg after finishing 3rd in the G1 QE2 Cup in Hong Kong in April.
She has been in rehabilitation since then and her comeback plan is not yet known.

Contrail has been sidelined to take a long rest, too, after finishing 3rd in the G1 Osaka Hai in April which was his first and only start since his runner-up finish to Almond Eye in the G1 Japan Cup in November.
But he is now ready to run in the G1 Tenno Sho Autumn and slated to run his final race in the G1 Japan Cup in November before retiring to stud.

The Tenno Sho Autumn next week is going to be a must-watch race!!

And, of side note....

RIP. Duramente (2015 Satsuki Sho & Tokyo Yushun winner)
Bravo!!!! Titleholder (2021 Kikuka Sho winner)

This is the first time in the Japanese racing history that the Japanese-trained Classic winning colt is represented by Classic winning colts through three consecutive generations.
