The look in his eye reminds me more of his sometimes-fiery dam, Goldikova, than it does of Galileo.

It's not very attractive to have your stallion standing like a skinny-necked gelding, and his hind legs seem to be very straight. I hope they try taking a different portrait with him standing better.

There's no way that's his official conformation shot.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 10:37 pm It's not very attractive to have your stallion standing like a skinny-necked gelding, and his hind legs seem to be very straight. I stand corrected. Oy. That's really the best shot they could get of him?Flanders wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 1:40 pmAre you sure about that? https://claibornefarm.com/stallions/performer/starrydreamer wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 10:19 amThere's no way that's his official conformation shot.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 10:37 pm It's not very attractive to have your stallion standing like a skinny-necked gelding, and his hind legs seem to be very straight. Maybe this is just intended as a placeholder, and they'll replace it with a better picture once Performer fills out? They look like they are preparing to update their website given all their fees are listed now as TBA. (Although you would think if they were going to use a placeholder, they'd use that photo of Performer racing. It's not a conformation shot, but at least the horse looks good in it. And War of Will doesn't even have a conformation shot right now. So who knows.)starrydreamer wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 1:59 pmI stand corrected. Oy. I went and checked their site after it was posted and yeah, there really aren't words.

Claiborne's conformation shots usually leave a lot to be desired but Performer's might be once of the worst I've seen come out of there.TwilightTear wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 3:26 pmMaybe this is just intended as a placeholder, and they'll replace it with a better picture once Performer fills out? I do photography as a fairly serious hobby (albeit I mostly photograph birds, not horses), and despite my trying to give Claiborne the benefit of the doubt here, scrolling through their roster and the photos, I definitely agree with you. Their conformation photos seem almost like after-thoughts.Flanders wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 4:12 pmClaiborne's conformation shots usually leave a lot to be desired but Performer's might be once of the worst I've seen come out of there.TwilightTear wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 3:26 pmMaybe this is just intended as a placeholder, and they'll replace it with a better picture once Performer fills out? New photo of California Chrome at Arrow Stud. I don't know if this is an official conformation shot. At the age of 10, Chrome has a slight dip in his back, but looks healthy and fit. By the way, for color aficionados here, Chrome as a lot of white birdcatcher spots and at least one Bend Or spot.
