Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this LL's last foal? Any idea who Irene is? I'm sure it's a special name.

In the video out on TDN, Fred Mitchell said she is named after his mother. If this has already been answered, sorry for responding to it again. There is a picture of her in the article.

“She's almost a June foal but she's a very nice individual and a very good-moving filly,” Mitchell said. “She's very pleasant to be around except when she gets a little teed off. She will take a hunk out of you, which I like to see out of fillies.”

A much better way to honour someone than, say, Karin with an I.

Also, the fact that they call her Leslie and just talk about her as if she's a true member of the family makes my heart melt. So glad she will get to have a nice retirement.

Would Ghost Lion be considered a 3/4 brother to the late Roaring Lion? It's sad that we have lost both Roaring Lion and his dam, Vionnet, so 3/4 is about as close as they can come.

I think that in order to be 1/2 or 3/4 siblings, both must have the same dam. 3/4 sibs are out of the same mare, but have a father and son as sires. I think that's how it works.....somebody correct me if I'm wrong!

Generally 3/4 siblings are the same mother but with fathers/sons as the dad, BUT people will still sometimes call relations like Ghost Lion's 3/4s because of how close it still is. It's easier to simplify it.
