It's about time that Japan sent one of their wonderful fillies to contest the Arc.
Seriously...fillies and mares have done very well there in recent years, so I am pleased to see 'Genesis is being given a chance. 8-)

Dark Eclipse (Duramente) did a really impressive jump over the rail and then...fell on his back while trying to buck off his saddle. He escaped the gate.

This was horrifying. Looked like the saddle slipped way back and scared him when he went under the gate. So glad he was not seriously hurt. Can’t imagine he will ever want to go in the gate again. Looked like quite a few horses were restless and acting up in the gate.

I can't imagine that Dark Eclipse won't have some after-affects from landing on his back so hard. I noticed that the video of him being led around after they got that saddle off showed him shaking his head a number of times. Headache? Neck injury?
I hope he will be OK. :(

I hope he gets retired to a less stressful life.

He’s by a star young stallion that died last week at age 9, and out of a half sister to Deep Impact. Unless he physically injured himself beyond repair, there’s no way they will be retiring him.

I’m gonna guess he’s barred from racing until he can pass a gate test, but bigger headcases have raced successfully in Japan before.

He won his debut race and this G3 was his second start.

Deep Bond(JPN), 2017C. Kizuna(JPN) x Zephyranthes(JPN) by King Halo(JPN), won the G2 Prix Foy 2400m turf at Longchamp on Sep 12th 2021.
He was 2nd in the G1 Tenno Sho Spring last time out.

Deep Bond has both the greats Sunday Silence(USA) and Dancing Brave(USA) in his pedigree. 8-) 8-)

Hey tachyon, I just remembered there was a retired thoroughbred in Japan who lived until age 42 that died a few years ago. I remember everyone talking about him here but I don't remember the name. Do you know or remember?

Harajuku (Deep Impact) was 3rd in the G1 Jockey Club Oaks Invitational Stakes at Belmont. She veered out to her right at the break and lost a lot of ground, so coming through along the rail to get up for the show was pretty good.

I wonder if it was Tango Duke in Australia who lived until the world record oldest age of 42 (But he might be from unregistered parents)

In Japan, Arrow Hamakiyo(JPN), 1979. Arrow Express(JPN) x Sarong(FR) by Traffic(USA), lived until 40 and passed away in 2019.

Harajuku(IRE) is a half sisster to King of Koji(JPN)(H5 by Lord Kanaloa), G2 winner going 2500m turf in Japan.
It looks like Phaenomena(IRE) provides good stamina with her offspring.
I wonder if Harajuku will get more distance.

Almond Eye’s shoes were knocked down for JP¥ 8,560,000 (about US$ 78,000) at Northern Horse Park's charity auction today.
She was wearing these shoes when she won the G1 Dubai Turf at Meydan in 2019.

The sales at this auction will be donated to Old Friends Japan.

Yes, the auction is over and we can't revisit the internet auction website.
But you may find all items that were put up for the auction in the link below by clicking thumbnail photos. :D

https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/recommend/ ... 0909/0000/

The set of Almond Eye's shoes was the highest price at the auction.
The second highest-price was the saddlecloth of Maurice(JPN), knocked down for about US$ 11,000.
Maurice won the G1 Tenno Sho Autumn in 2016 with it and his rider Ryan Moore gave his autograph on it.

It's Katsumi Yoshida (Northern Farm) who presents the saddlecloth in this photo.

You are welcome!
I don't know a lot about the trend of internet auction for horseracing items.
But it just seems that halters are rarely put up for it in Japan.
