Seemed a little underwhelming, are there some megabucks yearlings in session 2? It seemed like every other offering was either Into Mischief or American Pharaoh, I only saw one Candy Ride.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

There were actually more Quality Roads entered than American Pharoahs; however, Quality Road had some outs whereas American Pharoah had no outs. Justify had more than both of them entered. Candy Ride did have three entered, but one of them was an out, so you aren't too far off there.
I do expect today's session to be stronger than yesterday! Within the first 30 hips there is a half to Dennis' Moment; a colt o/o Together Forever; a half to Curalina; and a half to Paradise Woods. A lot of exciting hips in session 1 were scratched.

Keep your eye out for Hip 253, a filly by Justify out of American Cleopatra (American Pharoah's full sister). I'm not in love with her physically but she's by a Triple Crown winner out of a full sister to a Triple Crown winner.

i expect hip 300 will light up the board. Quality Road colt out of Catch the Moon. Half sib to 4 graded stake winners including Midnight Bourbon. Dam has thrown 4 graded stakes winners from 5 foals of racing age.. Three of the four are by less than stellar stallions. Colonel John. Shanghai Bobby and Tale of Ekati.

Oh, absolutely. Tiznow certainly isn't a slouch as a sire either, but Curlin is on a whole other level. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up the sale topper.PONYRCR wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 12:00 pm i expect hip 300 will light up the board. Quality Road colt out of Catch the Moon. After going through today's session, I really believe that it is stronger than yesterday's. Very excited for the fireworks!

Well, he hasn't totally fallen out of favor: his filly o/o Vaulcuse is the first to clear the million mark today! Hammers at $1.2million.KatieK101 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 9:28 pmI noticed this as well. Thought it was strange that his yearlings weren’t drawing much attention. Onto younger and better things, I suppose.Retrospectiv wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 7:47 pm The bloom is certainly off War Front. 5 sold, highest went for $400,000 and that was to Coolmore, who of course own several shares in him. And the dam of that was of course a Galileo daughter, who they used to own....

Disagree. I think the better War Fronts are in today's session, not yesterday's (which is supported by the $1.2M War Front filly that just sold). Also, I feel like his books have somewhat dropped off with the introduction of American Pharoah and Justify (a lot of the mares that used to go to War Front are now going to these younger Triple Crown winners), and it's showing in his sales prices. I think a lot of his best bred offspring aren't even making it to the sales now.Retrospectiv wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 7:47 pm The bloom is certainly off War Front. 5 sold, highest went for $400,000 and that was to Coolmore, who of course own several shares in him. Starting to remind me a bit of Forestry.

231, Mindtap, Tapit x Whatdreamsarmadeof grey colt $725,000. Maybe being a cribber lowered the bid?

I remember this question being asked some years ago. Cribbing doesn't affect sales price, if I recall correctly.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 1:56 pm 231, Mindtap, Tapit x Whatdreamsarmadeof grey colt $725,000. Maybe being a cribber lowered the bid?

This colt is by Quality Road, not Curlin, but Quality Road has done well for himself as a stallion, although I think of him more as a filly sire. But the dam certainly seems to throw runners no matter who she's bred to.KatieK101 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 12:43 pmOh, absolutely. 253, Justify x American Cleopatra bay filly, does not look happy in the ring. Backed up to the podium, feet splayed, ears airplaned. $750,000.

Hammered at $750k. I thought she'd go for more, but maybe buyers had the same thoughts about her looks. Wonder if she'll be an RNA.starrydreamer wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 11:20 am Keep your eye out for Hip 253, a filly by Justify out of American Cleopatra (American Pharoah's full sister). 251, an Arrogate colt, sold for only $70,000. I have gotten the impression that his yearlings aren't exactly lighting up the board.

Curious to see if 259, MdO x Arch's Gal Edith filly, lives up to the value shown on her dam side. Mom foaled I'll Have Another, among other stakes horses. $550,000.

The farm I work at is very high on hip 286, a Quality Road colt out of Brielle’s Appeal. This is the first foal out of a mare that’s stakes placed and a half sister to Authenticity (dam of Charlatan). He’s got no issues from what I’ve heard so he should light up the board

261, Justify x Arienza colt, is a handsome chestnut. Got an engine on him. AND he's peeing in the ring.
$600,000.
