I just tried to look up the 7/21 Entries for Monmouth on DRF, and their site does not even have Monmouth races listed for either the 21st or 22nd. Are you sure about that date and/or racetrack?

I guess they must have just changed their minds/made a mistake. I get the race notifications by checking the available events to "sign up" for (they list all of them, sold out included). American Heiress' not there now. I'm not a shareholder so I don't know for sure, but she was supposed to be entered last week and they changed their mind then too. I don't really know why.BaroqueAgain1 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 6:33 pm Upcoming Races:

Lady Valentine was 3rd in her Turf debut at 1 1/16th. As a shareholder, I was pleasantly surprised; thought she'd give the proverbial hoof to this race horse thing.
Power up Paynter was 5th in a 6F AOC today.
Social Dilemma was a tough 2nd in a 1 1/16th Allowance on Turf. She's only been off the board once in 7 starts-nice filly!
New (Named) Horses:
-American Freedom x Salute to Summer was already named by connections as Salute to America.
-Flatter x Co Cola has been named Search Engine. Full to Search Results. From family of Mind Your Biscuits
-Maclean's Music x You Make Luvin Fun was named Magical Ways. From Family of Believe You Can
-Malibu Moon x Grand Traverse Bay has been named Cornice Traverse. Full sister to Conquest Eclipse. From family of Colonel John.
-Malibu Moon x Into Summer has been named Malibu Mayhem. From family of Summer Wind Dancer
-More than Ready x Wonder Brew was named already as Miss Sakamoto. From family of Ginger Brew
-Upstart x Who'sbeeninmybed has been named Micro Share ( + )

FWIW, some of those 'new' named horses have been names for quite a months now
Didn't really like Search Engine but I get wanting to stay along the lines of Search Results (if only he's that good )
Micro Share... another 'i get it' and Spendthrift has had the name reserved before the horse came along as it sounded but a name that doesn't charm me (at least the horse doesn't know the difference)...
Collusion Illusion is bound for the Bing Crosby (G1) this Saturday at Del Mar

Yes I know they’re not technically new but I figure since I just started this thread I should do a better job updating
Search Engine is from what I understand one of the better name options. I think the other was Calimocho….
How did Social Dilemma come out of the race? Lady Valentine is fine and targeting more 2 turn races on turf. Looks like turf may just be her thing after all.

From Al Stall (or so MRH says )
We spoke with trainer Al Stall Jr. and Social Dilemma has exited her race in good order thus far. The 3-year-old daughter of Medaglia d'Oro hand walked today and will do the same for the next two days, which is standard in the Stall barn.
Stall reported she will be ready for her race at Kentucky Downs in September. We are looking at our options for her next target race and will likely be pointing towards an allowance race for fillies and mares 3-year-old and upward going six and a half furlongs or going a mile.

Collusion Illusion scratched Saturday morning after grabbing a quarter on Friday that was still bothering him on Saturday. Sigh.
Just listened to an interview with Glatt by TVG. Me reading between the lines... Not sure that we'll see Collusion Illusion in another GI this year unless it's turf. The Pat O'Brien Gr II later in the Del Mar season is a possibility but Glatt said Collusion Illusion does not like kickback so any inside post is an issue. Collusion Illusion doesn't appear to have ever run on turf and Glatt said that was a possibility.
I'm wondering in my mind if Glatt saw the stiff competition yesterday in the Bing Crosby Gr. I and now feels that might be a bit of a stretch for Collusion Illusion knowing the outcome may be dependent on the post position draw. This is only MY opinion, haven't seen it stated anywhere.
Vertical Threat (the other MRH horse in the race) last... from the chart

So, carrying over some of the discussion in the Fillies and Mares thread: Monomoy Girl is not expected to make the breeders cup due to time off.
These are the tentative entries for this weekend barring scratches and/or races not filling:
Forbidden Kingdom scheduled to race 8/7 at Del Mar
Yes this Time (from Edge Racing side of MRH) scheduled to race 8/7 at Saratoga
Escape Route (?also from Edge Racing?) scheduled to run 8/7 at Del Mar
American Heiress scheduled to run 8/7 at Monmouth
Infinite Empire scheduled to run 8/8 at Del Mar.
Of these horses, Yes This Time is already a G3 winner/stakes winner.
Debuts most anticipated in this weekend is Forbidden Kingdom and Infinite Empire. I have heard through the grapevine that these two, along with Laforgia and Above Suspicion are very exciting. Both have apparently made very good showings in the morning.
New horse: Regal Rebel (Tiznow x Queen Amira (GB)) Family of Battle of Midway, Gourmet Dinner, Musical Romance)
--------
Now, since everyone apparently has lots of questions and varying opinions on the whole MRH thing, I guess I'll start a general discussion on the matter of is it "worth" buying into a horse under MRH.
First, the experience. No, you do not get owner's pass/rights to visit your horse outside of specified hosted events. While these visits hosted by MRH occur regularly and are free, it is a lottery to attend events and/or stand in Winner's Circle. That being said, the MRH management do a decent job of giving updates on your horse. These includes gallop/breeze videos, stall videos etc. You will get weekly updates on your horse.
Second, finances. As I have previously stated, going into MRH horses is basically no chance at profit. The management/miscellaneous fees USUALLY ends up being about ~50% of initial price and/or get out of the horses' winnings. This includes a "reserve" where all training fees etc. are paid out. In the event the "reserve" dips below, all winnings will first go to shoring up this reserve. FYI for Moonlight d'oro 's Las Virgenes win, all of the fees (management, trainer, jock etc.) ended up being ~$40k, of which 17k was management only; total payout so far is ~$17 due to needing to shore up reserve. However, there are a few horses for which management fees are much less due to all of the training expenses deferred until the end of the horse's racing career. This means in the event the horse does not earn back the training expenses, you pay nothing but still get your share of the race winnings. In that event, you end up only paying ~30% initial fee only to MRH. At no point will you need to give MRH more money outside of initial investment for surgery/rehab etc.
Lastly, breeding rights. Although this has only happened for Authentic so far (and maybe Tizamagician down the road), this portion is a bit more interesting. Let's say Laforgia (as an example) becomes a stallion. Spendthrift and MRH gives an initial $4million bonus divided among shareholders. This is considered an "advance" on the value of the horse. How is remaining breeding value established+longer payout delivered to the remaining shares I will defer to people who have shares in Authentic. For fillies (aka Street Band and Moonlight d'oro)-they go to auction and proceeds are divvied from there. They do get a "broodmare bonus" depending on what graded states races they win, but I won't go further unless someone is interested.
Kickers are not common in horses owned by MRH. That being said, it's important to read every offering carefully. Ownership percentages vary-some go as low as 0.01% or all the way up to 0.1%. Some horses will have deferred training expenses-aka more payout from race winnings. Some horses are racing leases(although none of the current offerings as of today are). Some horses do NOT have the stallion or broodmare bonuses.
So, there you have it. A run up of how your monies go to MRH. Once again, if you do this, don't go in for profit. As most people know, profit and horses do not mix. My real life pony will happily divest anyone who believes in horse profits of their money.

Very nice summary. I think MRH is up front with stating the risk. Most of us here know horses are a risk... the general public not so much.Honor Code wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 4:35 pm Lastly, breeding rights. You are correct... some are leases (not many), most are sales with varying percentages. The offering (if you read down far enough) will tell you how many total shares are available. MRH asks, every time you buy, that you don't invest more than 10% of your annual income. Most horses don't have the stallion or broodmare bonus. Some of the more recent acquisitions, Regal Rebel and Salute to America, are NY Bred and can participate in the NY-bred program. Also check the full pedigree to make sure the horse is BC nominated. So inexpensive when babies and so not inexpensive when they grow up. Will the vast majority of horses make it to the BC, no. But you might end up with Authentic round 2, you never know.
At least the horses all get mortality. I suspect it has paid into the Future Stars Stable account but Ancient Royalty had an accident at one of the training farms and, despite getting on the trailer within five minutes of the accident, bled out before they got to the vet hospital. Shrug.

Infinite Empire now being targeted for race on the Pacific Classic undercard.
Frosted Oats, today, Race 2 at Saratoga, 1 1/16 MSW on the turf. She did much better in this start. Wore blinkers, Saez rode a good race, she moved up nice on the far turn, took the lead until she got swallowed by both members of Chad Brown's coupled entry (who was odds on favorite),
Did I win any money? I don't bet so no from that aspect. Maybe a few bucks from the 3rd place. I don't care. I was rooting her on to win like it was the Kentucky Oaks

Pretty sure this is a SEC requirement.

Dear MRH, I get that non-shareholders are not that important, but where did some of these entries come from?

Infinite Empire. After stumbling coming out after her last gate work, Mandella wanted to get a few more gate works in her. A MSW at 5.5f was written on the overnight for Friday but the race didn't fill.Honor Code wrote: ↑Sun Aug 08, 2021 11:07 pm

Now the target is a MSW on the TVG Pacific Classic undercard.
Not sure what is meant by where did some of the entries come from? Maybe I am on the less educated side but I assume that races are selected primarily by the trainers with some input from the partners (MRH and other partners (not all horses are co-owned with Spendthrift; some with other partners and some wholly owned by MRH)).

Following what Rob Atras felt was a subpar work from Regal Rebel Saturday morning, the trainer has decided not to enter the 2-year-old filly for the Aug. 13th race at Saratoga, and to wait for the next condition book at Saratoga to target a race for her career debut.
Working in company with an older horse, Ghost Giant, Regal Rebel covered a half-mile in 48 1/5 and galloped out five furlongs in 1:04 and change, on Rob’s watch.
While the half-mile time was solid, Rob said Regal Rebel is typically stronger on the gallop-out than what she showed today.
The good news is that Regal Rebel is physically sound, but might be feeling the lingering aftereffects of a mild antibiotic she was given recently to treat some sinus drainage. Rob also reported that the daughter of Tiznow is coming into season, the period of the reproductive cycle when a female horse ovulates, which can impact their performance.
“I think it would be better to wait until the next condition book comes out at Saratoga for her,” Rob said.
