Looks like Van Gogh will be standing in Japan which is not surprising given how well APs have done on dirt there.

So the first two AP sons to stud are in Japan?

I wonder if he got hurt or they just gave up on him. I feel like he could've been decent over middle distances if they dropped him in class or sent him to the US or Australia. Not much breeding he can do in the middle of the year anyway.CorridorZ75 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 1:25 pm Looks like Van Gogh will be standing in Japan which is not surprising given how well APs have done on dirt there.

This was probably his peak for value. That 2 year old "championship" was hogwash, but he is well-bred.Northport wrote: ↑Thu Jul 22, 2021 8:58 pmI wonder if he got hurt or they just gave up on him. ETA: are you thinking of Frankel?

Makfi(GB)(Dubawi) sired his first JRA group winner, as his 3yo filly All at Once(JPN)[o/o Supreme Gift(JPN) by Deep Impact(JPN)] won the G3 Ibis Summer Dash 1000m turf at Niigata on July 25th 2021.

Makfi is a very handsome fellow. I'm really glad to see that Dubawi has produced some good sons to carry on his own sire's bloodline.
IMO it was a great loss to the breed when we lost Dubai Millennium, IIRC after only one crop.

Has Juddmonte pensioned Mizzen Mast? I no longer see him on their website's roster
A is for Arrogate, A is for absolute superstar, A is for anointing

I'd say that's pretty likely as he's 23.Nenikikamen23 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 6:06 pm Has Juddmonte pensioned Mizzen Mast? I no longer see him on their website's roster

Shame, I loved watching his foals on the track. Still, here's to hoping he has a long and peaceful retirement after all he's done, he's earned it

I would guess they are likely to end up selling the farm in Kentucky or part of it as they restructure after the founder's death. He was the only stallion left there, wasn't he?Nenikikamen23 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 6:06 pm Has Juddmonte pensioned Mizzen Mast? I no longer see him on their website's roster

After Arrogate's passing, yes, I believe so
Though it'd be disappointing to see them dissolve the American "roster" with some of the colts they have in training

It is a shame; he is one of my favorite stallions. I've always thought he was very underrated.Nenikikamen23 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 7:34 pm Shame, I loved watching his foals on the track. Still, here's to hoping he has a long and peaceful retirement after all he's done, he's earned it

You’d hope they’d at least want to stand Mandaloun eventually… and maybe Tacitus? Though he definitely wouldn’t meet their standards for standing at Banstead Manor, maybe they would be more lenient in Kentucky. Still no G1 but he’s bred in the purple… though i guess most of the Juddmontes are

I actually really like Tacitus as a stallion prospect, lack of a G1 aside. I don't see why they wouldn't stand Mandaloun, he'll likely be their Derby winner and he's by on-fire Into Mischief, so there's plenty of stud value to him from a financial point of view

I wonder how and when he got it. I know he was actively covering mares at some point this year - Kalahari Cat was bred to him.
