Chrome had a nice day with two winners ( including his first NA 2 year old this year), two seconds, and two thirds (including a new SH) from 6 starters.

Woah! I saw the two third place finishers but not the others.CorridorZ75 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 6:13 pm Chrome had a nice day with two winners ( including his first NA 2 year old this year), two seconds, and two thirds (including a new SH) from 6 starters.
The SH is California Lily, who we were discussing recently due to her injury. I'm glad she's bounced back!
Someone in a Chrome FB group posted his recent stats as of June 14:
Still no winners from the small sample size in Japan, but Cal Fragrance finished second in a dirt race on June 15.Chrome's current winners-to-starters percentage is very high at 46.4%. He has 39 winners from 84 starters to date. By this stat, Chrome would be #1 on the 2nd crop sires list (the sire class he went to stud with). Not This Time is #2 with 40.8%. If Chrome were on the General Leading Sires list he would also be #1 by this stat. Current Leading Sire, Into Mischief, has 43.3% winners to starters.
Also, with Cilla's stakes win, Chrome would be tied for #4 on the 2nd crop sires list.

It also looks like Chrome Blame, Chrome's second Russian winner, won his second start on June 16.

While I do think he'll be better supported in Japan, I still think that they perhaps pulled the plug on his American stud career too early. I mean, I get it The wins aren't coming in stakes races, but he's proven to be at least a useful sire, with progeny cashing checks more often than not.

McCovey Cove (o/o Sky Glow by Grand Slam) made his first career start today in the 3rd at Delaware. He is owned by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and trained by Graham Motion. It was obviously a learning race. He was extremely fractious in the gate and finished well beaten, but I don't recall Motion having a huge "first time starter" win percentage.
