In the meantime, G3 winner Hayayakko(JPN), 2015H. King Kamehameha(JPN) x Marshmallow(JPN)[Kurofune(USA) x Shirayukihime(JPN)], won the Sleipnir Stakes 2100m dirt at Tokyo rallying impressively from the last on June 19th 2021.

If he can become a stallion (<-- although I'm not yet sure if he has done enough to be), we will see a numerous number of white thoroughbreds in a few years.
Will we see a coup d'eta of the racing?

Very interesting pics of Hayayakko. I've long suspected several of the Marshmallow family were grey under their white. He has dark looking skin patches and looks like he's grey as well as W14.

Naturale (hidden under all that mud) is a full sister to Black Caviar and has already left a G1 winner from her 2 foals to date. Her 2nd foal is a stakes placed 2yo!

The studbook rules in Australia and New Zealand state as long as the mare was bred after September 1st the foal will not get older on Aug 1st

Really dumb question incoming:

North American TBs age Jan 1, breeding season starts Feb 14(ish). Since the Southern Hemisphere seasons are inverted shouldnt the Southern Hemisphere seasons be 6 months later, horses age July 1 and breeding season starts mid-August?

First day of Spring technically starts down there around beginning of September, but it technically doesn’t start till middle-end of March up here. Plus it isn’t really like we observe the natural progression of seasons when it comes to breeding Thoroughbreds anyway.

Mares are getting covered in the Northern Hemisphere well into June, but a similar timeline would land a mare in the Southern Hemisphere get covered in January. It’s a later start and a shorter breeding season I suppose?

Honestly I think it is how it is so they can shuttle stallions. The stallions need time between the NH and SH breeding seasons to travel and clear quarantine.
