Her dam, Miss Always Ready, was featured on foal patrol this year and foaled a Palace Malace filly. She colicked about 24 hours after delivering but is recovering well from surgery, and the filly is now on a nurse mare. Nice to see the family performing well despite a few setbacks this year.

As Time Goes By (AP x Take Charge Lady) wins the G2 Santa Maria by a whisker over a 23-1 shot who was 9 lengths behind her last time out. Let the conspiracy theories begin!
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by Moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Joan of Arc finished a close second in the Irish 1000 Guineas. The winner, Empress Josephine (Galileo - Lillie Langtry), is a full sister to multiple champion and classic winner Minding.HB1994 wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 10:27 am You'resothrilling, a full sister to Giant’s Causeway, produced another GSW when Joan of Arc (Galileo) won the Irish 1000 Guineas Trial (G3) at Leopardstown. The filly is a full sister to G1 winners Gleneagles, Marvellous, and Happily. I think she is You’resothrilling’s sixth SW.

*He won a maiden claiming hurdle at the Carolina Cup Races.
Beverly Steinman, who bred both Be Somebody and Colstar, races jumpers as well as flat horses. Colstar's daughter Dynaverse had two of her own offspring (Three O One and Wildcat) running in maidens on the day as well, though both finished up the track.

Man of Riddles - 2018 c. Temple City x Mien, by Nureyev - half to Big Brown finished 6th of 6 in the Listed Cocked Hat Stakes over 11f at Goodwood on Friday.
He sold for $85,000 at KEESEPT19, then again for $241,000 as a two year old at Goffs Arqana at Doncaster in 2020. I thought I was hearing things when the commentator said a horse of David Simcock's was half to a Derby and Preakness winner.
Mien's pairings have been interesting... foals are by the following stallions: Gulch, Boundary, Horse Chestnut, Touch Gold, Belong to Me, Stormy Atlantic, Henry the Navigator, Hat Trick, Hat Trick, Temple City, Temple City, Temple City, Temple City, Temple City.
I know Knapp has algorithms and such for how he matches his mares... but maybe swinging for "breeding the best to the best and hoping for the best" could have been tried once or twice for the dam of a Derby winner.
