Uberleben!!!

I really like the Gold Ship x Roses In May cross. Wonder where this filly will run next. I think Sodashi should have run in the NHK Mile instead.

At least now we know Sodashi's limits.

There can be further debates as to whether Sodashi's connections made a right decision by entering her in the 2400m Japanese Oaks, but....

I felt as if I were watching the 2004 Belmont Stakes, even if the situation was not exactly the same.
We are in a racing nation where real-super champions are still expected to win big races at the middle distance (2400m is within the ''middle distance'' in Japan).
The Japanese Oaks and/or the Japanese Derby are among the big and ''Classic'' races where the winner gets the most respect he/she deserves, while the NHK Mile remains a ''minor'' G1.
The vast majority of her fans wanted her to win the Oaks and her trainer believed that she would be capable of covering 2400m....

My feel now is..... that's the racing.
No one was wrong.

And this youtube video below could be interesting, too.
Sodashi had a very tough trip, and.... it looked like #18 Stellaria was an ''Eddington'', haha!

My apologies, Tachyon. It was not my intention to sound like I was criticizing Sodashi's trainer and owner for entering the Oaks -- it was a sporting gesture. I only meant that I have felt she is better at 1-1/4 miles or less. But who knows -- maybe Sodashi will prove me wrong later in her career! ;)

For now, I cheer to Uberleben who was best on this day. :)

Great to see Gold Ship sire a G1 winner and great to see him pass that Sunday Silence-Stay Gold endurance into his progeny. And finally, great to see Big Red Farm have a stallion provide marketable results.

That’s all right, Starine!
You made a nice call again! -- you picked Lei Papale in the Osaka Hai, didn't you? 8-)

Sodashi will be sent to the farm to take summer vacation.
Her next start is unknown.
But I guess that she will be aimed at the G1 Shuka Sho 2000m, 3rd leg of the Fillies Triple Crown, for the fifth match-up with Uberleben in October.
Some fans want to see her switch to the dirt at some point, too.
She still has a lot of options!!

Yes!!
And Stay Gold, unlike most of major sons of Sunday Silence, was standing at Big Red Farm, too!
That's why some of Sunday Silence fans believe that Stay Gold was his true best.

Thanks, Tachyon. I appear to be a much better handicapper of Japanese racing than I am of racing here in the States. ;)

I hope the time off does Sodashi some good. Looking forward to see both her and Uberleben back on the track.

Will the undefeated Satsuki Sho winner Efforia(JPN)(Epiphaneia) attain superstar status in the Japanese Derby tomorrow?

I love the way Victipharus looks, but those are a bunch of good-looking colts.
Curious about the coloring on a couple: is Baji O a rabicano? And what is up with the color-blocked Orfevre colt, Lagom? He looks like someone brushed on new paint tests all over his front.

I LOVE when Tachyon posts paddock photos <3

I think Baji O is just the way the photo came out, that his coat looks a bit texturized. I don't see any white ticking.
Lagom looks like they've shaved several blocks on him.

I know vets may shave an area if they need to insert a line, but those patches are all over the place, even a couple on his back legs. Why would a horse be shaved in such an odd pattern?

It sounds like Lagom had a skin disease and they've shaved several blocks for the treatment.
