If he does well here, there is also the Allen Jerkens at Saratoga, which Hard Spun won. And his progeny seem to like Saratoga. I would like to see some of Hard Spun's sons win multiple G1 races. So far, his only repeat G1 winners have been fillies...Hard Not To Like on grass and Questing on dirt. I think those are the only 2. Wicked Strong came close, losing the Travers by only a nose. He should have won that race. I was so bummed.

The Belmont undercard is going to be exciting this year. Rocketry in the Brooklyn, which he came close to winning last year, Silver State in the Met Mile, and Caddo River in the Woody Stephens. The Belmont is pretty "meh" for me by comparison.

ANTOINETTE scratched from her race. Turf was yielding today.

JOURNEY TO FREEDOM ran a really strong race. Finished 3rd in the Belmont Gold Cup G2, at 2 miles on the yielding turf. Made a great move along the rail (passing tired horses, I guess) and I thought for a moment he had a chance to win. But he did well and hopefully has some good wins in his future. He finished ahead of a lot of horses that were shorter odds than he was.

I am always kind of astounded about how many long winded babies Hard Spun has produced. None of them have been world champions, but they've won some nice graded races and, when Hard Spun was running, a lot of people claimed he couldn't get 1 1/4 miles (even though he finished 2nd in two of the biggest races (with the toughest competition) at that distance.

CADDO RIVER finished last of 6. I didn't know if he could win, but I expected better than that from him. He seemed to be gawking at the other horses coming down the stretch. Like he was sight-seeing.

However, Hard Spun is the broodmare sire of the winner, Lone Rock via Ruby Lips. So that's something for Hard Spun.

SILVER STATE won the MET MILE! OMG! I was afraid to hope for it after the last two. Another G1 winner for Hard Spun. Win #6 in a row! His record overall: 11-7-2-1
