Someone posted a pic of what looks like a dead horse in a pasture from afar in a comment 6 days ago.

And so many trusting owners...hope they find him and he gets real jail time and a fine that hurts. And can never work with animals again. I also hope they find the stolen horses, if they are indeed alive.

The BH article opened with "the owner is missing" so my first thought was, "Oh no, what if the owner was actually murdered?" but no, it got much worse.

The horse is not just dead recently. It's body clearly has been picked over by carrion feeders. This situation is horrifying, but I suspect it is not as rare as we hope it is.
