As long as the consigner we use listens. Four Star didn’t listen about this one mare we warned about until she bit a potential buyer on the stomach for petting her

That's to let other riders know that your horse will kick if you get too close. I had to put red ribbons on the tails of one or two show ponies I used to ride. Not sure if they use them in the sales ring, though.

I think red means aggressive

Red tied up in the tail means the horse kicks or bolts when horses come up behind it. Red tied into the forelock means the horse bolts/shies away when other horses come towards it. Neither are ideal but I've hit the deck more often on horses who spook when horses come towards them
